mlb will be the first, maybe in 20 years
Man, them baby boomers and geezers probably wont live that long. MLB gonna be in trouble when a chunk of their fans die off. TV Shows with good ratings are getting taken off the air now cuz only old people watch. The sport that attracts younger viewers is whats gonna run sh1t. Thats why nba teams are goin for more than their value and why mls is on the rise.
that's not how it works in soccer. a buyout clause is what another team has to pay the player's current team. and it's a billion euros ($1.3 billion). anyway the big 2 (barca and real madrid) like to put ridiculous buyout clauses on their players for marketing purposes. they know no one is going to pay such a ridiculous number. after barca signed cesc in 2011 they put a €200 million buyout clause on him and they just sold him this summer for €35m.Then it's not a buy out. A buyout would be what RM pays CR to release him from his contract. I doubt it's a billion.
And no, there will never be a billion dollar contract. The economy will regress and maybe collapse. Athletes will be blue collar again like they used to be.
already there
- $40-60 parking

Kershaw's contractA Rods contract was almost 15 years ago though.Seems like we are regressing.I agree more players will get a piece of the pie but i don't think we'll see a number that big.
