Actually I just went into the ring for sparring immediately. The first punch I threw knocked my sparring partner out so they kept putting new ones in and with each punch I threw I kept knocking them out. Eventually the whole gym lined up and I knocked them all out 1 by 1 and actually I’m still in the ring right now typing this

Sparred too soon as a teen. One of the most humiliating experiences of my life. :deadrose:

Did you take that first punch to the nose and your whole face feels like you got stung by 5 wasps?

Or when you get hit with a good body shot and drop to your knee. Thankfully I never got hit with a liver shot. I don’t need to know that feeling.

Dude was toying with me. Never felt so emasculated :mjlol:

Nah never took a liver shot thankfully, but I been rocked and had a dull pain in the back of my head and jaws for like a week afterwards.

I've been at it for 4 months now brehs, no regrets. Thanks everyone who contributed to the thread like half the shyt y'all said came to fruition, including taking a beating, especially from people you least expect it from lol. fukk no regrets brehs none, I'm out here. One important thing I want to add is if you get into it, neck work is so important, never take it for granted.

been followin' this thread for awhile, good to hear you're still sparring.

I recently started sparring again after a 7 year layoff... lol almost got my head taken off by a newish guy in the gym. TBH i. feel like when you're new, it's way more dangerous sparring against fellow new people than more experienced dudes). Had my jaw feeling like shyt for a week but sure as hell made me focus on my defense in training + subsequent sparring.

Some follow up questions for eevryone in the thread seeing as most of yall seem like regulars in your respective gyms.

How often are yall sparring? I'm in my 30's now, feelin like i don't wanna be losing too many brain cells so i'm keepin' it to once a week for now. Anyone else taking precautions like this? to be honest, since i've been sparring more regularly now, i'm getting hurt way less so less of an issue but intereested to see if anyone else thinks about this.

I'm 32 and a smaller dude so I only do more hard sparring once a week. but I also have pretty good defense and elusiveness so I dont really take much damage, I could probs spar several days a week but honestly it gets to a point where

1. you already can beat the shyt out of a random in the street
2.you are paying to get punched in the head
3.you are not getting paid for getting your ass beat :mjlol:
4.Once you are at least competent your returns in training start to slow so you have to work harder to imporve

I love boxing/sparring but some weeks/days I'm like I just want to go to my regular gym and do some cardio, but then my trainer be shaming me so I take my ass to the boxing :mjcry:
