Nah, that's not what I meant. I was more so asking why anyone would be upset at someone taking the initiative. Multiple posts have been made about getting this thing going. I've reached out to a couple people myself.

If @1984 is taking the lead, can we get a google doc or somethign goin with some ideas and roles etc.

Ganksta NIP, K-Rino, Point Blank...even DC gogo...you couldn't catch these joints at traditional news stands tho...a gogo shop just outside of DC called "PA Palace" is the only place i would see em in

My simple response to you is a question but it's a rhetorical question

Why didn't we monetize it and corner the market (record companies, media outlets, distribution) after we started the genre/culture?

Who knew how to pull that off? These were project kids who didn't know what they had at the time was going to be a global phenomenon. Most of them didn't understand the business end (publishing/royalties). We had no infrastructure in place nor the finances to start media outlets and definitely not distribution.

Yes, some people might have believed that their were at least a few more Blacks being employed at these blogs.

You can't just assume everyone knows this.

Also for those of us that DID already know this there is still a DIALOGUE to be had about our ( actually, I don't know if you are black and if your white it explains everything) Situation.

And how we can IMPROVE our representation in documenting a CULTURE that for the most part is created and represented by our people.

I actually want to go on record with @1984 and say I'm down to help start a Blog.

It's honestly not as hard as people are making it out to be, as long as people are realistic.

We would not be on the level of a Noisy, Fader, or Stereogum instantly. But just having a place where writers of color have a voice is a STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.

It could even be Tumblr based initially. With Reviews, Think pieces, Interviews, Maybe a Podcast.

I actually hosted and produced a music video show in high school. Even though it was Public Access TV I still ended up interviewing DMX, Eve and the rest of the Ruff Ryder camp (Lox, Swiss,PK) and Cash Money ( Baby, Juvie,Manny, And a SUPER young lil Wayne.

I say all that to say shyt AIN'T IMPOSSIBLE and we can talk all day, but WHAT ARE WE ACTUALLY DOING?

People get too caught up in being BIG TIME, they don't wanna start from scratch and put in work.

This is what it comes down to. We have enough good writers on this forum alone to put together a respected hip hop blog. We can't keep complaining and not offering solutions or an alternative.

We should hold some type of contest and let the forum decide, based on entry, who should become contributors in the startup.

The only thing is figuring out how the compensation works but at this point the work has to come before the money. We need black publications.

If it has to be a passion project for a couple months before money comes in, so be it. Most of these nikkas have thousands of post for free anyway lol.
