I've been thinking about doing this.

I DO IT WITH YOUR BILLS FOR SURE. THE HAVE IT SET TO AUTO PAY FROM 1 ACCOUNT. DIVIDE YOUR MONTHLY BILLS BY YOUR PAY SCHEDULE AND HAVE THAT AMOUNT DIRECT DEPOSITED INTO THE CHECKING TO COVER THE CARD.

I DON'T THINK ABOUT MY BILLS TOO MUCH NOW. I JUST GLANCE AT THEM TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE IN RANGE AND KEEP IT MOVING.

Checking

1 nationwide account for easy access (rarely use due to credit card usage)
1 credit union for car payments
1 black financial institution

Savings

1 nationwide account (store monthly credit card balance there so I can pay in full)
1 credit union
1 non-brick&mortar MMA account (for higher APR)

I like to organize monies appropriately. :smugdraper:

doesn’t that lower your credit with all those accounts?

I've been thinking about doing this.
It has made things easier in my opinion and it has other added benefits like cash back, points, credit history, buyer’s protection, added warranty, and so on

I have 5 credit cards and they all have a role.

The oldest card I have is a capital one secured card. It only has $800 credit limit which is nothing but the real value is in its age. I just put my Netflix subscription on it and auto pay to keep it active

One checking and one savings account.

Both with a credit union out of state that I signed up with online

Personally, no.

After working for 2 national banks (credit, collections and personal banking), an investment firm (financial advisor) and a debt management company (for businesses), I've learned a thing or two (not all) about money and what effects it.

I wouldn’t get checking and savings with the same bank

1. The savings rates are laughably low at big banks. No big bank is beating online savings accounts

2. This is psychological. Before, I used to transfer a lot from savings to checking to cover big expenses and what not. It was quick and so easy to do. Now, if I want to transfer from savings to checking it takes about 2 business days. Just those extra steps are enough to keep myself in check
