One, two, maybe three.

Catch Me If You Can :obama:

Indy

Plus points for Munich, writing The Goonies, and Hook.

Minus points for executive producing Casper, and the fourth Indy :upsetfavre:

If we're talking CLASSIC movies then the definitive list should look like this:

Schindler's List
ET
Close Encounters
Poltergeist (Spielberg was the one pulling strings behind the scenes)
Jurassic Park
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Jaws
Saving Private Ryan

You can argue that he's made better films but these are the ones he's most synonymous with and have had the biggest impact on film and popular culture.

he hasnt done much thats interesting to me the past 12 years but he's still one of the goats. I havent even checked out his last 2 movies(lincoln, war horse) I strongly prefer blockbuster spielberg over dramatic spielberg. (though schindlers list is amazing ..SPR too)

ET
jurassic park
the first 3 indy movies
catch me if you can
minority report(sooo underrated at this point)

close encounters and jaws were cool and influential for their time but dont have the same impact IMO today. and Hook is a personal fav.

Can't agree with u about jaws which is still probably his best film besides schindlers list.

Never liked minority report but movie gets a lot of love. Hook too, to me the movie was terrible but once again the coli seems to love it.

Close encounters hasn't aged well but its still classic.

I do agree he hasn't made anything great in a long time.

I loved Hook, tho

I saw Schindler's List only once. shyt was a masterpiece, but just mad depressing. I know shyt was fukked up, but didn't need to see it. I know it was important, tho. Same thing I felt about District 9. It was a dope movie, but that shyt was just mad uncomfortable to watch.

Classics (based mostly on their cultural importance/influence):

Jaws
Close Encounters
E.T.
Raiders
Last Crusade
Schindler's List
Jurassic Park
Saving Private Ryan

Note: I think Munich, Catch Me if You Can, and A.I. superb films, but they lack the huge cultural impact of a "classic".

Yeah its depressing just knowing what was happening but the technical aspects of Schindler's list is what makes it classic. Great acting and story telling. I don't get depressed watching it over again I was just very impressed on how well he made that film. Not too sure why district 9 would be an uncomfortable watch tho. Man up! Lol

i saw jaws a few months ago. it was well made. but for me a lot of the hailed flicks of the 1970s are somewhat boring. i know that may sound ignorant but many of them dragged on. Movie was a bit too long for the type of film it was imo. (2 hrs 10 min)

and i can see why people may not love hook, its really cheesy. but i was young when it came out and nostalgia is a hell of a drug. movie still makes me laugh

but how can you not love minority report!?
