"MMLP" is his only Classic and that's mostly off the impact it had commercially but musically songs like "Stan" and "The Way I am" gave Hip Hop heads something to talk about. SSLP is right there, but it had flaws I could see it being Classic at the end of the day cause it's considering Em's official debut and it was a solid ablum. "TES" had impact yes but the production wasn't the greatest on some of those tracks but it was a solid release. "Encore" was uneven and a disaster even though yes there were a few tracks on there. I get it, Yes Lyrically on "Relapse" Em was going in. But he had so much time off he lost his voice and the accents were terrible.
Dre was consistent on the production but it was Em that was messing up the songs. It was him reverting back to his Slim Shady persona but not quite getting it. "Rec" did recover from "Relapse" it was the better album but a little more Pop, actually, way more Pop. "MMLP 2" to me is going to make or break Em's catalog as of right now it's 3 good, 3 bad. He's average. But we know as an emcee he's not average, he's extremely skilled.
Now commercially, Em always delivers. He's a brand and a living Legend. But the fact is his album when compared to the greats aren't the strongest. But yes people will put up SSLP/MMLP/TES in Em's defense that he can create amazing albums. Even though it was a soundtrack, "8 Mile" had some great songs on it too. But Em today is a shelf of his former self. We'll see what he does with this new album but so far I'm like meh on the 1st two songs.
