How many of y’all were around the Sega Genesis vs Super Nintendo Console War

I only knew one person with a genesis, and I only played it when I was in Illinois.

Everyone else I knew had SNES. So really no war to be had.

edit: tho if he would've had gunstar heroes or streets of rage I prolly woulda felt some kinda way (all he had was Eternal Champions, Moonwalker and sonic games)

That and Sony fukked alot of fans over with the price it launched at with the PS3.

I almost copped an Xbox 360 due to the PS3's price. Up until recently, I've only been able to afford one console per generation, so the console I, or when I was a kid my mom, bought was the one I ran with.

I had a Sega Genesis with most of the bangers. I can upload my collection if you give me some time. I probably have over 100 games. Last time I catalogued everything was on IGN but I just checked and they deleted that stuff from my account.

My cousin had the snes tho. I loved genesis but Mario was fire too

I came up at the tail end of that era. I had SNES, my neighbor across the street had Genesis. Playing Street Fighter 2, Streets of Rage and Sonic and Knuckles for the first time

The SNES was the better overall console IMO. It had too many classics.

I can admit that Nintendo took an L with the first Mortal Kombat though. (They came correct with 2 and 3 later.)

I was definitely around for it but I wasn’t battling, I had both systems, my father got me the genesis for my birthday in November and my grandmother, his mother, ended up getting me a snes for Christmas that same year.

I did end up playing the SNES more because my friends had them so we would trade games between each other.

The Genesis was the sports console. Wasn't Joe Montana's Football a launch title? The folks around me who played Madden, Bulls vs Blazers, and eventually NBA Live, all owned a Genesis. My friends who all loved fighters gravitated toward the Genesis too. SNES was the single player action/adventure console. SNES was the better hardware but Nintendo frequently censored game content. No one wanted to play Mortal Kombat with no blood.

It wasn't as much a war as of now IMO. Back in the day you'd talk about it and the conversations I had mostly went:

Me: Yea I got Sega but dang I wish I could play Yoshi (Super Mario World)

SNES Owner: Yea but ya'll got ALL the sports games and I wish I could play Sonic

It was more envious than anything else, social media made that shyt into hate instead of just saying "damn I want to play that"
