but the national democratic party itself was less concerned with clearly distinguishing themselves from Republicans and more concerned with trying to appeal to the outliers of the republican base. they themselves wanted them lines blurred

About 90% of NHL players are White men. Most of the American NHL players are MAGA (or MAGA-adjacent). Even a good chunk of the White Canadian NHL players have MAGA sympathies. Many of the European NHL players are probably right-wing in their views too.
The MLB is second. Most MLB players are White and Latino men. Some MLB players, like Manny Machado, are openly MAGA.
Most NFL players are Black men. So automatically less MAGA than the NHL and MLB. However, there are many White and Polynesian NFL players (most of whom are MAGA/MAGA-adjacent).
The NBA is definitely the least Republican/MAGA out of the Big 4 sports leagues in North America.

How many liberal and conservative athletes actually vote in local/state/national elections? Feel like the female athletes are mostly liberal. Football is majority liberal....but most of them dudes don't vote.
Half the spicy nikkas in baseball ain't even citizens, so they might wanna "bote por Donnel Drump" but can't.

Let’s be real. A lot of athletes don’t know anything about government spending or actual policies.
They’re athletes, not intellectuals. They didn’t choose to go to school to be Doctors, Engineers, Scientists, Economists, etc. How many have even genuinely passed a Freshman-level Political Science course and understood the material? Their careers avoid school and intellectual work.
The leagues make these guys seem more “in touch” than they are. The NBA desperately tries to push the narrative these guys are deeper and have studied more things than how to do ‘killer’ crossovers and ‘deadly’ stepbacks.
There’s a reason why most of these people don’t make good investments, because they’re not good investors. They don’t know much outside of their sport.
People need to stop making athletes seem like well-cultured and well-rounded people. Especially now that they don’t come from poverty, they don’t relate to a lot of humane shyt. Their ‘tutor’ is a personal basketball coach.
Outside of Wemby, Klay, Jokic and Jaylen these star players simply aren’t very cultured with any unique interests/hobbies. Most of these other players’ main interests are fame, models, play ball and some video games (fps and sports). That summarizes like 95% of these cats. shyt, when they go to other countries their activity is like 95% basketball and groupies. They don’t even have a deep interest in money because they don’t study it.
Also most owners are Republican so the players most likely take after them as well because they probably have goals to be an owner one day.

The most illuminating moment of this was in the bubble after Jacob Blake was murdered by a pig in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The Bucks basically went on strike to protest and most of the league joined... except LeBron who called Obama for advice. And Obama said play basketball and LeBron and the Lakers decided to play which then led to everyone else playing.
Obama and LeBron both cared more about the game than making a powerful statement with the world watching.
