I was a union laborer apprentice for 3 years. That shyt wore my body down to the point I had to have knee surgery in April.

Climbing in and outta sewers, muddy trenches, working in the rain/cold. Lifting heavy ass pipes and other materials

Plus it’s no work in the winter so you sitting on your ass Dec-March.

Took a substantial pay cut but well worth it

Laborers is exactly what the name suggest. Lotta older guys I work with had back,knee, shoulder operations all that. We run the construction site, shyt don’t move or get put into place without us(no disrespect to engineers @Amerikan Melanin)

I tested for it in May, scored high and rocked the interview so I got called up. A state job here in IL is super coveted, people try they whole life to get into this mf

I think the numbers matter, but I understand people not wanting to share. There are many people being underpaid. It’s good to see salaries and maybe if it’s a similar industry they can look at making a move.

I wouldn’t have asked for more than $60k in my life if internet strangers didn’t share their salaries with me. That’s one thing I appreciate SOHH for.

I’m a business intelligence analyst. Work a lot with data and reporting. I’m looking to move into the Data Scientist and/or Project management field.
