I've done it before. Cacs do it all the time and get away with it.

I needed to switch career fields and couldn't go back to an entry level position. I cooked my resume up like a 5 course meal :cook:

Some things i made sure to do:

  • Change position titles but still use the companies i worked for. Its difficult to check what your actual position was, as long as its a company you got a check from you should be good.
  • VERY high level research on the target industry and position i was gunning for. You have to be able to speak with hiring managers and be convincing of your experiences. I worked so much on my story that i began to believe it myself  Also need to have the right keywords listed so your resume can be selected by applicant tracking systems.
  • i changed my linkedin to not notify my network of career changes and switched it up to match my "new" resume. I wanted everything to be consistent on all levels. (If someone i knew did see it then o well)
  • Also kept tabs open during phone interviews with helpful info (linkedin pages of people in the same position, examples of industry resumes to reference from)
The resume is what gets you interest from the potential companies, once you get to the interview stage its about being confident, knowledgeable and showing that people wouldn't mind working with you on a day to day basis.

Hiring Manager for the position i ended up taking actually said my resume was very impressive during my interview. I couldn't help but hit a :jawalrus: as i sat there.

Lie as much as you can. Chances are the employer withheld information about the full job description.

It will fall under some cute: we are all a team bullshyt during the coffee and donuts breakfast

Corporations lie all the time. Do what you have to do to get the job.
Came in like “Don’t lie” but these 2 posts reminded me that corporations lie all the time.

:ehh:

For point #1 in your spoiler tag, some employment background check services actually check what you submit in your application vs your previous employer's HRIS system. I had that happen to me with my new job, cuz it was a job title difference and I had to send PDFs of my offer letter from like 2012 to clear up the difference.

I don't know what you would do if you straight up lied

That's because they don't check/gaf or they half ass it by calling your manager (who is really a chick you smashing or the homie you play ps4 wit) :troll:

The problem is, doing biz with cac terrifies nigs, turning them into tenors. Nigs would rather be honest on their res about their unemployed status and starve/rack up bills instead of taking thirty fukkin mins to prepare fake responses/stories for these questions:

"Why are you leaving your current position?"
"What made you take interest in our company?"

Reality - unemployed for four months, Fired for tardiness, falling asleep on the job, job burnout, just didn't give a shyt, terrible in the role etc

What you tell cac - Here's what I love about my job (blah blah blah) and I've been fortunate enough to accomplish (blah blah blah) and receive high praise and recognition or whatever.

I strongly believe that the exp I've gathered from my previous companies would provide XYZ positive results (in detail) from day one. Sum it up with a random tidbit you read on the website "about us" section that you found "interesting."

Done. Your last job became irrelevant in 30 seconds.

Too many people live in the past - - Maybe back in the day, you could be honest about why you're currently unemployed, but today it's too much damn competition out here. Call yourself umemployed when there is literally hundreds of "employed" people fighting for the same job, brehs.

Calling yourself unemployed in this job market is a death blow. Especially when you're black.

Nigs need to look at these cac jobs as opportunities to finesse them out of paper while building your own shyt on the side.

A clever/smart/prepared/slick negro can rule the fukkin world simply because these cacs NEVER see you coming. :blessed:

I wish we all understood this.

Most people never talk about this.

Lesson in there.
Gospel.

Sisters best friend got fired from a 75k job in tech for lying about certs & experience. They hired her peak pandemic in 2020 so I guess they weren’t going thru their normal verification process.

Low & Behold, 2 years later they do a firm wide audit on employee records.

Honestly I don't have the heart to lie.

All it takes is one hater to take a concrete block through your car window known as your career.

I won't put anything on my resume that I can't speak to. I won't lie but I'll dress up the most mundane, pointless responsibilities as key experience in my previous employment. I also try to hit as many key words in my resume as possible.

This. No ourtright lies. Perhaps my wording may seem like I did more than I did, but it's not a lie. I can speak to everything and have it backed up as well if they call references.

No matter how tempted or safe you may feel, do not LIE on your resume.
