I mean.....he's almost 40. He's in fadeout mode along with Yo Gotti and Jeezy
I thought he was one of the few hip hop artists that transcended age and even yo gotti too he still know how to put a few hits together every year

Right, this nikka don't know what tha fukk he in here talkin about

in hip hop for the most part, trap is about the content regardless of the sound because the sound can vary (this is how i can be able to not "sit through it" because i can pick and choose which trap music suits me). this doesnt change just because other genres co-opted the name for specific "sounds" later on.

this info is easily available, that kid just wanted attention :mjlol:

Keeping it a buck, I think the next wave will be even worse. Both aurally and conceptually as well as lyrically.

Those who've been around the block can see the devolution in full effect because rap is ultimately the soundtrack of the youth and each generation that comes produces yet more basic children who are easily entertained with disposable music.

The trap wave was symptomatic of this but best believe the kids are getting just as much out of it as y'all did with boom bap, G funk or whatever else was kicking as your hormones were rising. Spoke on this before:

We're witnessing a race to the bottom in pretty much every single aspect of what it means to be human and the popular culture of the times represents this degradation along with the simultaneous rise of the digitization of life. Interesting times, for sure.
:lolbron:

I'm interested in what's next.
I would really like to know who will be the one to flip all of this shyt on its head and when will it happen.

I actually think it gets better for a short amount of time, similar to the internet era, but it's difficult to pinpoint when it'll happen.

Based on that perspective the whole Rap genre sold its soul to Lucifer because that was the formula two Rap music's most influential artists followed

Before they had thier beef Pac told Biggie the key to selling records is to:

"Make records for B1TCHES"
:manny:

I guess Lucifer decided to cash in on his investments

RIP TUPAC.......RIP BIGGIE
:francis:

Yep. Cater to hoes, and you get the fast dirt nap.

They not letting Paris, Public Enemy, Brand Nubian , X Clan or PRT come back out again.

Forget about suppressing a Black Power movement from happening again, THEY TRYING TO ERASE THE PRO BLACK MOVEMENTS OF THE PAST and pretend that Public Enemy, Brand Nubian, ATCQ, and others never existed.

At least back when Gangsta Rsp was the most popular form of Hiphop, there were still other Genres of Rap. Everyone wasn't trying to sound the same. Now you have everyone and their Mama doing trap music. You have Rappers, R&,b singers and even Pop star's doing music with trap like beats. No one is being creative, people are just doing what they think will sell records or should I say streams.

They not letting Paris, Public Enemy, Brand Nubian , X Clan or PRT come back out again.

who is "THEY" .... :why:

like really mane...who is this "THEY" yall speak of?? :mindblown:

you do realize all these pro black ARTISTS yall speak of were signed by the same MAJOR LABELS putting out the gangster , drill and trap rap yall so much despise

these Jews and Crakkkers whom have run these major labels for years WERE NEVER THREATNED BY PRO BLACK CONCIOUS MUSIC...

as long as it did numbers THEY WERE SELLING IT.............. :manny:

PUBLIC ENEMY was signed to DEF JAM RECORDS

Brand Nubian was signed to Electra records which was part of the WARNER MUSIC GROP (warner..elektra..atlantic WEA)

X Clan was signed to MCA records...

PRT was signed to Profile Records which was like the "Koch Records" of the 80s..an independent label with strong retail ties with mom and pop stores and indy distributor networks

even BDP with Krs One was signed to Jive/RCA the home of R. Kelly and the Backstreet Boyz and Nsync

RECORD COMPANIES are about the bottom line period...just like when they signed Lauyrn Hill to put out one of the greatest black conscious records of all time MISEDUCATION OF LAURYN HILL on SONY/COLUMBIA records

even PARIS the militant rapper from the bay area when he caught flack for his "DEVIL MADE HIM DO IT" video which was banned from MTV and eventually got dropped by TOMMY BOY/WARNER

he turned right around and found another "home" with Priority Records which at the time was being distirbuted by SONY

When his second album, Sleeping with the Enemy, was ready for release in 1992, Paris was dropped from now-defunct Tommy Boy Records (since rechristened Tommy Boy Entertainment in 2002) and distributor Warner Bros. Records, owned by Time Warner, when the parent company discovered its incendiary content, which included fantasy revenge killings of then-President Bush and racist police officers.
Paris signed a major artist and distribution deal with Priority Records for himself and Scarface Records in 1993

Forget about suppressing a Black Power movement from happening again, THEY TRYING TO ERASE THE PRO BLACK MOVEMENTS OF THE PAST and pretend that Public Enemy, Brand Nubian, ATCQ, and others never existed.

Once again who is "THEY" cause all i see is OUR PEOPLE not giving a fukk about :flabbynsick: rappers like P.E..BRAND NUBIAN and ATCQ

just today thier is a thread doing numbers basically dissing THE NATIVE TONGUES saying they "fake"..they "talk slick" and "ain't about that life" when they were beefing with rappers like Treach.....and Wrecks and Effect

https://www.thecoli.com/threads/native-tongues-stayed-catching-the-beats.753236/page-4#post-36136079

see IT'S US...OUR BLACK AZZES NEVER GAVE A DAMN ABOUT THE CONSCIOUS MOVEMENT LIKE THAT

mainly cause the HOES wasn't fukking with it

i remember the deejay i worked for at the station i interned at in 1990 promoting two shows scheduled to take place in our city ....

it was 2 LIVE CREW and RAKIM appearing in the same city yet at two different venues

GUESS WHICH CONCERT HAD THE MOST BUZZ AND THE MOST WOMEN... :sas1:

u guessed it....

while the Rakim show was full of more white kids than black kids ..... :sas2:

we gotta hold ourselves accountable.....PRO BLACK MUSIC DIED...CAUSE WE DIDN'T APPRECIATE IT .....

ONCE THE WEST COAST GANGSTA RAP CAME IN along with NYC COKE RAP....

nobody wanted to hear THE COUP from the bay area with thier militant nationalist raps

or the BLACKWATCH MOVEMENT (XCLAN) from NYC with thier afrocentric themes anymore

so the labels FED WHAT THE MASSES OF BLACK FOLKS wanted in comercial music...SEX ...VIOLENCE AND DRUGS :yeshrug:

That’s what be upsetting me most. I’m like why are these jits so depressed.
