damn i didn't know what. what verse?
29
I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock.
30
Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them.
31
So be on your guard! Remember that for three years I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears.
32
"Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.
33
I have not coveted anyone's silver or gold or clothing.
34
You yourselves know that these hands of mine have supplied my own needs and the needs of my companions.

35
In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: `It is more blessed to give than to receive

:patrice: Paul was warning these folks that false prophets from amongst them and afar are going to distort the truth for self gain (money).

To prove his righteousness. He showed that he hadnt taken a dime from them and he himself worked for everthing he and his companions needed.

:skip: And the icing on the cake. The famous quote "Its better to give than recieve".

That quote is in direct reference in Paul telling them that righteousness in its purest form for preachers is spreading the word to the people and not demanding money in return.

:pachaha: Preachers done flipped that all the way around. Got folks out here giving the church 10% of their income. It dont say that nowhere in the bible actually god allowed folks to buy "feremented drinks" alcohol and food with their tithes. But thats a WHOLE other topic.

I have more references for the pay tho. Its alot. 1 & 2 Corinthians and 1Thesselonians all are letters written by Paul and he addresses the pay topic several times in these books.

I think there should be a pastor rating system and they get paid off their rating.
The rating is based off of how well the church members are doing in life. Kinda like a school and how well the students are performing.

Shouldn’t be given a salary. I feel the same when it comes to these political activists as well.

They can scream it to the mountains how they haven’t been changed, but money changes folks. I wouldn’t be able to be up under any pastor out here living like some of these pastors live. Back in the Sipp, the pastor of my church was working full time at the shipyard.

Pastor selling you salvation, hope, and will sprinkle a bit of game in it. He should get paid whatever you are willing to pay for it.

Either a lot of you have Sunday only pastors or don't realize there are plenty of pastors that don't fall under the category of only existing to make money off poor black people. Being a pastor can be a full time job, it also cost to run a church.

Yeah that's why I was saying some pastors stay visiting people during the work week.

If you have a “higher calling” then let God lead your ass to some money that doesn’t include you siphoning money from your congregation...

All churches should be taxed 20% unless they are using 50% or more of their offerings to develop the surrounding neighborhoods/communities (Small Business, Housing, education, homeless, etc...)

I think it's criminal that over the last 40 years black churches have taken in billions of dollars but yet our neighborhoods continued to erode and get gentrified.

This is a great idea.

Force them to use that money, productively.

Drop the tax-exempt status and watch more many preachers leave the ministry!

If they are bold enough to spend that type of money in front of the church, imagine what they do behind closed doors.

Either way, for every mega pastor that’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing, there’s 10+ struggling churches trying to do God’s will.

My FIL is a pastor of a mega church satellite church and he makes in the 6 figures. I don't know how much exactly but he has a nice house, a german luxury coupe and a german luxury SUV and buys suits from neiman marcus. I'd guess more than $100K but probably less than 200k. The pastor of the main location is no doubt a millionaire tho, has a jet etc.
Considering the amount of work my FIL does every week....I say $80-100K is fair for a large church. He works 50+ hours a week easy. Funerals, bible studies, sunday service, marriage counseling, outreach, and admin stuff he does for the mega church. it's not unusual for him to be working until like 11pm

People really don’t understand how much pastors work. I remember my old pastor had to get up in church and ask people please not to call him late at night b/c him & his wife need rest like everyone else. And for the record, there weren’t any cheating scandals with this pastor, so it wasn’t that. I even had an episode where I wasted the pastor’s time. Pastors, or at least the good ones, give a lot of themselves to the church.

Either you want separation of church & state or you want the world to adhere to biblical principles. You cannot have both.
