Is there a limit in your mind as to how much a pastor (or rabbi or imam) get paid?

Let's say the church is a mega church, should the pastor get more than a church with lower income folks and with a smaller congregation?

Or should the pastor's payment be based off of a % of the tithes and offerings?

Their paycheck should be in the sum of "the Lord works in mysterious ways"...

Honestly as a Christian I don't think pastors should be paid. When pastors are paid and the tithe/offering or congregation drops then what?I can just imagine how many churches are struggling now with a full time pastor etc. on board now that they can't meet regularly.

Apostle paul was a tent maker
Peter was a fisherman

These folks were performing miracles and Peter walked with Jesus and Paul wrote most of the new testament yet they weren't rich

I hear you. Some churches even directly pay for the pastor's living situation

so do you feel it should be just like being an elder in the church, volunteer work?

what about during the week visiting people in hospitals and such? should that be more equally distributed amongst elders or volunteers in the Church?

Or would better idea be to simply have the elders preach on a rotating schedule?

Whatever a living wage is in the area the pastor serves imo.

To me they shouldn't. If you look in the bible discliples/apostles traveled and stayed at other christians houses etc. But you have pastors nowadays who have to stay at a hotel :mjlol:

Jesus and his disciples walked, wore what they had, slept outside or stayed in friends' homes. They ate what they caught or what others shared.

And yeah that's why you have elders etc.
It's funny how small churches where pastor don't get paid and works a regular job can still survive and do things doesn't it

In regards of living expenses. If the church can say buy a house but its the churches house and the pastor lives in it I don't see a issue with it, especially as you can sell it later on for profit
