How old were you when you started coming home at all hours of the night?

I never really had a curfew to start with, but as soon as I went away for hs (boarding school), moms was kinda like, ":yeshrug:You off the porch, you got good sense, be safe out there, here's some money for a cab."

But the city different. Everybody was outside till 3-4 am, kids, parents, the whole block. (Not MY household, but that was the general vibe) So, really, for me, the weird part wasn't being out late, it was being out late off the block.

But I was hanging out with private school kids with well mapped out futures, so the most trouble we got into was fukking. My bff's sister was kinda well known so we got into a lot of clubs and lounges and shyt underage, occasionally drank, no biggie. My mother expected me to be doing those things, tho. How else would I learn? Those are the years when you supposed to be doing all that.

That early freedom is why I didn't make a lot of dumb mistakes. We was out here moving like grown women at 16.

I didn't party or get into trouble much and was a pretty responsible kid so by the time I turned 15ish I didn't have any kind of curfew or a set time to be home. But that was mainly because I wasn't the type to be coming home at all hours anyway.

My parents didn't even mention the word "curfew" until I got my driver's license and even then the hard-line was midnight with some flexibility if I made sure to check in frequently.

Not until 18 when I left for college

My dad was strict on me because the neighborhood was heavy gang area and nikkas was coming up dead almost everyday from drivebys, to kids getting shot for having the wrong color on, to just getting killed because I’m from a different hood

This thread just made me realize that in high school we'd go to a skating rink that hosted all-night teen parties, they'd close when the sun was coming up and we'd go home like nothing. I don't remember my mom or my friend's parents ever tripping at us coming home at 7 am when we were 15...that's pretty wild.

Also we weren't even skating. The rink had this little dancefloor room, be in there all night grinding and finger banging chicks.
