My analyst at a previous job was in an open relationship. I used to play softball with some coworkers and his girl would come out on occasion when we would go to the bar afterward. I always thought there was a weird dynamic there. She was unemployed for 8-9 months while my employee took care of everything. She even went to Europe for 3 weeks without him. Come to find out towards the end, my homie ended up getting some side...I thought it was odd him cheating, I thought was weird as well because I knew his girl so it was awkward. He confesses that they were in an open relationship. Even more awkward was, he seemed fukked up because he got some side which was even weirder to me because I thought that's what people did in open relationships. Apparently they were on the edge of breakup and inevitably did break up a few weeks later.
The whole scenario was fukked because I finally pieced it altogether. Whenever we were out at the bar after softball games, she would float around and seemingly have inappropriate conversation and contact with other people at the bar. Even me...I just shrugged it off as me being tipsy. But now I realize it was them being in an open relationship ultimately that my employee was not at all comfortable with but he apparently went along with for whatever reason.
Objectively in my mind, open relationships can't work because 9 times out of 10, most men can't get p*ssy at will. Only if they are exceptionally good looking or famous does this work in men's favor. And anyone non famous is flirting with disaster.
