1. explain
2. Drama is from Philly?? I thought he was from ATL
Have heard numerous times that Cosmic Kev takes pay to have a song get played on The Come Up Show. :francis: When he used to play a local song non stop & you'd hear that siren sound & the "Cosmic Kev...Street...Banga!!" tag...most of the time that was paid for. If you remember Kev had problems with a lotttttt of the local dudes for years like Quilly, Cyssero, etc. Number I heard was around 5k - 7k. Q Deezy can't stand that nikka last I heard.
:aicmon:
Drama from here & so is Don Cannon but I used to have no idea back when Gangsta Grillz were on fire. They did name their shyt the "Aphilliates" so I guess they tried to represent but they rarely ever claimed & never fukked w Philly rappers until Meek popped and it was "cool" again. Almost anybody I came across that found out he was from here usually had a reaction of :dahell: & :wtf:.

I never understood why Philly couldn't get it together with a powerhouse label. Must be the crabs in a barrel mentality.

Business wise, it's just not feasible. You're going against the media mecca in NY which is only 2 hours away. At some point you'll need to be in NY to do business, probably most of the time, so in the end you'll just move there...depending on how large you become. It is doable, but it'll take a huge bankroll, and someone brave enough to say "this is where we are."

I know Kurupt had Antra here, and but he was always out West. It dissolved when he signed that Pres deal with Death Row/Tha Row, But had he kept it for like 2 more years, it could've been something here.

Cats are not really baby sitting fools anymore, unless they get their shyt together and move wisely. Nope. Unless they invent a new sub genre or something on that other level like the drill dudes.

I wish well for Philly, a lot of dope rappers from there and on the streets in the underground too, battle culture was he at too so some of them go in with something a little different.

For what reasons would you say Philly was shut out of the industry? To clarify, I'm not implying that you're wrong, i'm simply asking what you think the reasons might be...

no labels here, so we're automatically shut out to begin with.

plus, philly is too street, and too smart at the same time. on & off wax. the industry isn't really trying to be bothered with much of that anymore. and they definitely don't want a combination of any of that. especially the somewhat business-minded guys.

yes I understood that. The explain was directed towards the Cosmic Kev show pay for play thing

cosmic kev is to philly, what funkmaster flex is to new York.

YUCK.

:lolbron: I actually used to like Willie The Kid..wasn't he La The Darkman's younger brother? I think Drama dropped his ass quick since he couldn't get him to get any bigger. :mjcry: He threw that dude on damn near every Gangsta Grillz too.

Yea I think he comes on and does segments for the local FOX morning show too & nah last I remember he was at a local Philly Hip Hop award thing and went on stage & said something like "fukk that bytch ass nikka Cosmic Kev & tell him Q Deezy said it" :dead: I think there was video of it online I can't remember. If I had to guess they probably just got tired of each other. Deezy went off to LA for awhile to try and be an actor if I remember right and he was on with Big Boy out there for a little then he came back to town kind of quick but wasn't with Kev anymore. :jbhmm:

Yeah. Drama is 2 years older, Cass 2 years younger. Ness did finish but was classmates with Drama. Some of my homies were saying it when Making the Band came on, and I didn't remember him since he didn't finish. But Drama confirmed it in an interview before.
