yeah but like kritic said, today its concentrated, before it was balanced, it sounds like you were the one that missed the point

im not sure what point you are trying to make by saying hip hop is one genre, we are talking about the rap genre we arent talking about music in general, so again you seem to be one missing the point
It was never balanced

Question...
When an artists raps about being hard or "the struggles in the hood" when they never really were in the hood, like maybe they grew up in the suburbs and stared in tween sitcom or perhaps they've had millions since they were 13 or 14 can you as a listener still appreciate the music? If so do you appreciate the message or the production? (the beat)
Who are you referring to?

Plus, all that matter is that the music is good

But, back to your group 1&2 rap listeners

Group 2 has always and will always outnumber group 1 in the real world

Group 1 will always outnumber group 2 on forums. It's why complaints about hiphop today stemming from inconsistent and hypocritical nostalgia always appear on here

Hiphop is dance music, that's where it started and that's where it has ended up.

to some...music is subjective and people listen for various reasons.

more or less:smile:

That's where it started, that's not where it stayed or what made it appeal to a large portion of the people who listen. Again music is subjective so while MOST of it is still dance/club music there's still people who listen for different reasons.

Naw they ain't gone work

why wouldnt it work? it got to the point where funkdoc was posting underground shyt from 5 years that nobody listens to prove the "balance"

rap is pretty much garbage, even rappers that are considered conscious and intelligent have albums that devolve into diatribes involving "fuk, bytch, nikka, shyt"
