I think there a few things to consider:
What is the position?
Is it at the same company you are already employed at?
Do you already know what the role entails?
How big is the company? Are they well funded?
How much experience do you have in the EXACT same role?
All of these items can drastically alter how you should go about defining “fair”
It’s a consultancy role with project management involved
No, different company.
Yes, I know the basics. I’ll dig for more details during the interview
Not that big, mid sized with offices around Europe, but it was recently bought out by a large company.
I’m a business analyst right now, so different but I have a lot of transferable skills working for a big company. Agile, scrum work experience (not certs though) and a master’s from a good university.
I’ll look at the market rate, my value and then choose a figure. I know my minimum which is not less than I’m earning now.
