Look at it his way:

If the purchase was legit and no money was stolen, the cashier would have $170 - the purchase + the 100

But if they're using a 100 stolen from the store to buy $70 worth of stuff, the store is essentially giving them 30 dollars for the items. So all they have is 70

170-70=100

It’s a multiple choice answer... there’s no choice of “not enough information”..

Anyway I’m over this...

The geniuses want to act so above everyone else and even the OP doesn’t want to give the actual answer, so in reality... we’re all correct. Interpret the scenario the way you want to based on how you perceive the factors... and what ever answer you come to is the correct one. If you’re the store merchant and you tally up your register at the end of the night, you figure out what you are supposed to have and what you are short of...

Digging deeper with unknown variables is doing too much in a multiple choice question especially when “not enough information” isn’t an option.
nikka stop juelzing, the logic is easy to grasp once broken down, you're just in your feelings

lol & smh at all these non-$100 answers. This math is not difficult at all.

The only way to reasonably think it's $200 is if you forget the transaction is legal ... meaning the only reason the owner would give the woman $30 in change is if she bought the items with exactly $100. She exchanges the $100 bill she stole for $70 worth of goods and $30 in change. She's not stealing the goods and extra cash.

100 dollars but couldn't the store owner legally get back let 170

he could argue she stole the money (the 100) irregardless of the way she tried to return it (by buying product)
then he could argue the 70 dollars worth of merch she stole

or am I overthinking this .

Out here in my damn drawls
I just had to break this down to my nikka lol.

Someone steals $100 from you.

They come and give you $100. So now you are back even.

But that $100 was for $70 worth of weed.

So now you give them $70 worth of weed and $30 change, which equals $100.

nikka was like:ohhh:

It’s funny how you can break some shyt down in a language a person understands better and they will get it

100 -70 = 30 change.

70 dollars worth of goods + change.

Yall are being tricked by "brought back the same 100 dollar bill"

Thats completely irrelevant. It could have been an entirely different person who stole 100. Treat the 100 dollar bill loss as a completely different transaction.

That should help yall
