Honestly I wouldn't put that on the coli. Lots of people outside thecoli fail to understand this. Maybe there's something in the water or perhaps it's our mediocre education system.

It's not the getting it wrong that's troubling. It's the key point of why they're getting it wrong because they don't value it

person steals 100

owner out of 100 bucks

- 100

owner loses 70 dollars worth of product

- 170

owner gives her 30 back

- 200

F

edit:

he gets 70 back

- 130?

idk fukk

:ld:

The $100 was brought back though so that puts him at 0. $70 worth of product was brought (-70) and he gave $30 in change (-30)

She took one $100, so the register is now -$100.

She technically only then gives back $70, bringing the new deficit to -$30, as the owner then gives her back $30.

The previous $100 was to cover purchases made before she even got there.

So, technically, the owner is now out the $30 he gave her back, and the $70 she really owed for the goods.

To make his register right, she should have given him $170.

So, he is now out $100.

We don't have enough information to give the correct answer

I give up, that's a whole troll post

:damn:

It’s a multiple choice answer... there’s no choice of “not enough information”..

Anyway I’m over this...

The geniuses want to act so above everyone else and even the OP doesn’t want to give the actual answer, so in reality... we’re all correct. Interpret the scenario the way you want to based on how you perceive the factors... and what ever answer you come to is the correct one. If you’re the store merchant and you tally up your register at the end of the night, you figure out what you are supposed to have and what you are short of...

Digging deeper with unknown variables is doing too much in a multiple choice question especially when “not enough information” isn’t an option.

Omg you “smart” people are so annoying.. give the damn answer and if we’re wrong... tell us why so we can understand...

What is with the suspense??

We don't have enough information to give the correct answer

Owner is out $30 cash, and $70 worth of product.

What information is missing?

if someone stole $100 out of my cash register (probably represents a previously made purchase). If I were to cash out at the time... and then someone purchased $70 worth of merchandise and I gave them $30 back... my cash register would be off by $100...
