I'm vegan now so I've been eating differently for 2 years now.

Not saying the school food was delicious and the best version, but yeah.

Peach cobbler, chicken & dumplings, cornbread, chicken fried steak, hush puppies, butter beans, turnip greens

All were in the cafeteria during my school days.

Mine too. We used have corn nuggets too.

Popeye's Red Beans and Rice. Canned Jambalaya. Peach Cobbler from Hardee's.

Hush Puppies from Captain D's. Surely these don't count.

And none of these foods I was raised on nor staples in my diet.

I fux with real Gumbo once a year though, I miss it, I need a recipe.

Yeah nah none of that shyt counts. that's some Zattaran's level shyt. They treat that shyt like a side dish. But real red bean's and rice is a full meal by itself. Same with Jambalya. Some real good authentic Peach Cobbler will have you remembering the time and place for the rest of your life
I was 12 my grandma on my momma visted us in Georgia. She was from florida, never met her before only interacted with my dad's side of the family.
Two of my cousins came with her, one was in a wheel chair. We played sega together. last i ever saw them to this day.
But she made some peach cobbler that they served it with some butter pecan ice cream.
felt disrepected by my mother that i never anything like that before. our relationship was never the same

Get chicken livers and gizzards at the gas station.

One of my fondest memories is my pops picking me up from day care in his blue Monte Carlos and then us hitting the closest gas station. He'd get some cigarettes and we would fukk some fried gizzards up.
