They just had a clusterfukk of absolutely awful GM work, and a location that not many FA's want to sign in. Jim Paxson set that franchise back YEARS long before they got LeBron, but then again, had he not been such a shytty GM they never would have won the lottery to draft him. Also, it doesn't help that LeBron was good right out of the gate and limited their ability to get a high draft pick.
Some of Jim Paxson's gems -
- Drafted Luke Jackson 10th, left Al Jefferson and Josh Smith on the board.
- Let Boozer out of his deal on a verbal agreement which is against NBA rules, so they could try and sign him below market value, all they had to do was wait a year to lock him up.
- Traded a first round pick for Jiri Welsch (Turned out to be Rudy Fernandez)
That doesn't even address the fact he took Dajuan Wagner over Amare & Nene
I think Ferry did a good job considering what he had to work with, Paxson is a historically bad GM. The only knock on Ferry is pulling Hickson out of the Amare trade at the last minute, and opting for Jamison instead. LeBron leaving could be traced back to the shyt job Paxson did as a GM, dude was on some CPU NBA 2k13 type trade & draft logic, he's the type of GM that makes me think I could have done a much better job.

If this would have panned out, save for Ricky Davis bum ass.
Remember when they turned down the Amare trade for.....JJ Hickson![]()
That sh!t was ridiculous.Remember when they turned down the Amare trade for.....JJ Hickson![]()
I didnt think it was THAT bad because I liked Hickson and he worked well in their game and Amare was probably just a rental. Where they really fukked up was holding onto Hickson like he was gold and then throwing him in the bushes once they got Jamison and later trading him for fukking Omri Casspi instead.

Instead of the cavs and there fans hoping lebron comeback in 2014, they better hope kyrie come back first...
anyway lebron is not heading back...he's either staying in miami base of the health of wade or he breaking out west off the strength of magic johnson talking him to play with the lakers..
Magic can't even talk that nikka into doing 3 dunks for a million dollars.
Rose is going through the same thing in Chicago. Playoffs with a mediocre team his first 2 seasons. Third season, best record in the NBA and ECF. Fourth season, best record in the NBA, but we know how that ended.
is a boss.
fukc this and bounced.
