It's a shame that some Eagles fans don't give 5 his due and from the looks of some of the posts on here, never will. Every Eagles fan knows that McNabb had some shytty receivers to throw to until TO got there and then again until Jackson and Maclin got there. Plus the fact that the fat man never really believed in the running game, despite the fact that we had Westbrook and then Shady McCoy. It's a shame he didn't win at least one SB ring(not saying that Donovan doesn't deserve some blame for that not happening). The people in Philly would have built him a statue outside of the Linc if he did. Do I think we would have been better in 2010 and 2011 with McNabb instead of Vick? Don't know. I think that the fat man would have had to change his philosophy on offense the way he did when McNabb got hurt in 2006 and would have had McNabb being the QB of a more balanced offense. I do think that we traded McNabb at the right time though looking back at that trade now. We drafted Kolb in the second round and had to justify that pick; so the team needed to see what he had to offer, which wasn't shyt, but I digress. No one knew that Vick would have that season he did in 2010. The line and lack of a running game did Vick in last season and this season.
As a Cowboys fan I absolutely hated playing the Eagles for 2 reasons: Donovan McNabb and Brian Dawkins.
More so it was McNabb, though. He was a beast who kept plays alive with his ability to move in the pocket and dodge incoming would-be sackers. He had a great arm, was pretty accurate, and one of the most underrated clutch guys in recent history. This guy made scrubs like Avant and Freddie Mitchell and Todd Pinkston look like real NFL caliber players
Donovan McNabb absolutely terrified the shyt out of me as a Cowboys fan throughout the entire 2000s decade, and I was incredibly relieved when they traded him to Washington. He was an amazing QB and it's a shame that people everywhere constantly overlook him, and when they do discuss him, they trash him for no reason.

I have Giants, Dallas and Skins fans and they all Hate Mcnabb cause of how many times he either ended their season or beat them in a head to head. But now that he's gone I've notice them all talk about him with respect just like you just did. Philly fans are getting a huge wake up call. We could be at the bottom of the division for years trying to find a QB and Coach. They will realize what they had in Donovan and Andy now that they are both gone.
My biggest argument was that it wasn't time. Donovan came off 2 really solid seasons and what we had wasn't enough to trade him. They should of traded Kolb, Kept Mcnabb and had Vick back him up another year. Eagles fans keep holding on to 2010. That was a fluke year and the Real Eagles team showed up losing 3 straight including the playoffs. There's no way I can look at this last 3 years and say we've been better off without Donovan cause we haven't. Using Washington and Minny performances against Donovan doesn't fly either cause those were two different teams rebuilding and two different systems. Donovan knew our system in and out, I don't see a drop off in 2010 or 11 for him. I just think the fanbase and the rush to move on has come back to bite us badly.

Don't get me wrong, I was pissed when we traded McNabb after the 2009 season. I guess the team felt that they needed to justify picking Kolb in the second round and figured Donovan was going on the downside of his career so they traded him. I can see 5 putting up good numbers in 2010, but that's if Reid would have utilized McCoy and the ground game because those last two games against Dallas in 2009 probably sealed McNabb's fate as far as the organization was concerned. That's Right. It's official Guys. The End of Donovan Mcnabb. Damn, a lot of us was hoping he would be the 2nd Black QB to win a Super Bowl after Doug Williams. He got so close so many times but sadly it didn't all come together. Doesn't mean he didn't have a great career. Based on Wins and Statistics only Brady and Manning won more games than Donovan Mcnabb during his era. Mcnabb actually won more Playoff games than Manning during his time and was neck and neck with Brady during that time in Playoff wins. I hope now that he will officially be retired people will look back to respect what an amazing career he had. The Eagles LIVED in the Playoffs when Donovan was QB. Mcnabb Jersey and Retirement Ceremony is being schedule for Week 3 when Andy Reid returns to Philly with the Chiefs. And Yes He's a Hall of Famer no matter what the haters say. If Kelly, Marino and Warren Moon are in then Mcnabb deserves to be in.

It's official. Donovan retires Tomorrow. Wow I can't believe this is finally it.
McNabb will go down as one of the best Eagles ever until a QB wins a Super Bowl but you got to admit dude spit out nonsense shyt all the time. We can never take fault but blames others and that is not what leaders do. I can see why the locker room took T.O side years ago.
