I've been wanting to change my diet for the last year or so man, 30 years of fast food and process food can't be good for the body. Your normal person would look disgusting by now, I'm lucky to be in pretty good shape. My problem is I really don't like green's bland and "mushy" foods over all. I haven't had a vegetable in probably 6 months if not more.

I do go to the gym weekly
I was running weekly (haven't for a month, bulking)
I have a office job
I try and get at least 44 hours of sleep a week.

This probably sounds mad immature, but how do you all eat things that you don't enjoy at all? Do you just do it because it's the "healthy" thing to do. Part of the problem is living in southern Louisiana....everything is good eating down here and the vegetables I do eat mines well end up being hamburgers after all the extra's that are added to them.

Anyone else fight with the struggle to eat better, not diet or lose weight but legitimately just eat better or clean.

Fasting. Dropping that stuff and curbing your appetite is the perfect introduction to a more healthy "lifestyle". Then, calorie restriction (maybe not for you since you're bulking) gives you a guideline for the general range of foods you can eat, nothing outrageous like a 1000 calories platter of nachos at a restaurant.

Then, learning about the health benefits of your food REALLY HELPS. Learning about micro/macro nutrients and how they help your body keeps you on track because who doesn't want a really healthy body? There's a point where you're more excited about getting the benefits of a bitter food or a supplement than eating a cheat meal.

Those two things make making healthier choices really interesting and easier. For example, after fasting for a few hours, eating a steak with a lot of spinach and some strawberries is not only gratifying as fukk, but you just got a decent amount of fiber, some fat, some b12, a lot of iron, and a few antioxidants!

Edit: going to the gym like you do also helps, since going to the gym on a shyt diet ruins your workout, and holds back your progress. Plus it feels like a waste.

Appreciate the insight, I have noticed after fasting or reducing my caloric intake for awhile I'm much more respective to any type of food. Your right about knowing what nutrients does what, as lame as it might sound knowing that fish oil contains DHA and EPA the benefits those provides does make the prospect of enjoy fish or whatever that much more enjoyable.

When you start to eat healthy you begin to crave those things more. You start to have a taste for them. You start to form habits. You can start small. If you don't like mushy then why not try things raw? There are all types of vegetables with different textures, flavors it doesn't have to be greens. Try different veggies, try those prepared different ways. Try smoothies with that are mixed with fruit and vegetables. I am a weirdo that likes vegetables more than fruit. But I get fruit from smoothies and juicing (when I have time). Do you cook for yourself?

It is also about discipline, my brother refused to eat vegetable for his whole life, now he is extremely unhealthy and has to force himself. It will catch up with you. Keep that in mind you have to buckle down and think of your health in the long run. Your body performs better when you eat better. I see the difference in when I eat good and work out and when I don't. You feel better, that’s encouragement to continue. When I see calories or the benefits of certain foods I want them more than others because I don’t want to waste calories. This holiday season was a ton of that.

Exactly!
In the mornings, I have to chug down a fukking disgusting shake with:
vanilla protien power
green "superfood" powder
maca root powder
coconut oil
toasted sesame seeds
bee pollen
a few drops of black seed oil
water
and wash it down with apple cider vinegar mixed with water

it's gross but it's become enjoyable to drink it because I believe in the health benefits.

Fish is GOAT. Plus, you can expand your food repertoire. Like, you want something from the ocean, but instead of getting a fried catfish platter, you could try some spanish octopus dish or some grilled squid, snapper etc etc

I'm doing this 28 day JumpStart with Fitgirls on Instagram and it made me love different healthier foods.

My favorites are the sweet potatoes tacos, pita pizza, grits with cherry tomatoes and feta cheese, fridge oas, and those protein power bowls :banderas: also the sweet potatoes lasagna rolls were pretty good but yeah take a month to find some recipes to try and you're body will start to crave those foods after a while. Also after going awhile without high sugar foods, your body will actually reject it. I went on a binge yesterday for crimmuh and now I feel nauseous.

As a breh who is also trying to change his diet, my suggestion would be to start slow but stay consistent and committed to it. As said earlier in the thread, if you eat the food long enough, your body will start to crave it. Take the time to find out which foods you enjoy and can handle adapting to, and be sure to stay committed to the process.

Also a prep days help, that way you don't go through the "I don't feel like cooking so Imma eat this easy to cook but unhealthy food." I make 3 breakfast and lunches on Sunday and 4 more on Wednesday since I'm lazy and hate cooking for breakfast and lunch everyday.
