I've been wanting to change my diet for the last year or so man, 30 years of fast food and process food can't be good for the body. Your normal person would look disgusting by now, I'm lucky to be in pretty good shape. My problem is I really don't like green's bland and "mushy" foods over all. I haven't had a vegetable in probably 6 months if not more.

I do go to the gym weekly
I was running weekly (haven't for a month, bulking)
I have a office job
I try and get at least 44 hours of sleep a week.

This probably sounds mad immature, but how do you all eat things that you don't enjoy at all? Do you just do it because it's the "healthy" thing to do. Part of the problem is living in southern Louisiana....everything is good eating down here and the vegetables I do eat mines well end up being hamburgers after all the extra's that are added to them.

Anyone else fight with the struggle to eat better, not diet or lose weight but legitimately just eat better or clean.
Breh since you don't like vegetables I suggest a smoothie :blessed:you get all your nutrients and they taste delightful I suggest this book

It has great recipes....you can't even taste the veggies in them and once you start drinking them regularly you sleep better and have more energy....it also helped me drop like 20 lbs

Cleared the refrigerator this morning. Just fruits and orange juice. :blessed:

I threw out some nachos I made Tuesday this morning. The smell didn't agree with me anymore. The seasoned beef with taco season. The ooey gooey processed Tostitos queso and cheddar I mixed all had me. :gag: As I cleared the refrigerator. Even threw out the veggies I had with the nachos.

Started fasting this past Saturday night, come tuesday morning... I had to shyt all of a sudden. Feces was in clusters like those turtle chocolate candies with blood and a dark in color.

So about those nachos I made Tuesday afternoon.... I had a huge plate of supreme nachos. Before that some hot Cheetos in the am.

Cheesecakes for desert that night.

Wednesday morning I wake up with discomfort in the middle of my back... Couldn't go back to sleep.

Been having the worst pain all in my abdomen and back. Like horrible.... Been up since Wednesday morning with very little sleep. The pain is Non stop. It's only began to go away rapidly this early Friday. I'm finally able to lay down. Been sitting in a chair hunched in different positions trying to sleep the pain away. Got some Imodium plus Thursday for the pain. Probably could of gotten something better, but I feel a lot better. Still in some discomfort.

Not as I was Wednesday night. At one point I thought I was about to die. And I began to feel a calmness come over me. I was happy that I was about to die because of the pain.:merchant:

I say this to say... After my few day fast.... I honestly didn't know what I had a taste for, so I said fukk it and nachos it was.

After my whole pain debacle which likely was due to indigestion or me not able to digest the junk I put in my body after my lil fast. Like my body didn't agree to the crappy food this fast After a few day fast. I know they say red meat takes long to digest and isn't good for you but yeah.

Then my dad brings up eating healthier on the phone, it's creepy because he asked me have I been eating... I'm like :wtf:..... Then talks to me about taying away from the processed foods and stuff.

Pretty crazy all this happen so close.

I hadn't eaten anything since the nachos. Gross, even saying it is :gag:.

I'm now craving chicken breast and rice with broccoli. :mindblown:

Won't be eating until this pain completely goes away.

Have water, orange juice...pineapples, plums and cantaloupe. In the refrigerator.

i need help trying to improve my diet too. Thankfully I'm at a great weight despite having multiple children but I can tell that my health will deteriorate very quickly as I get older if I don't make major changes to my diet now.

This is a good thread.

I remember years ago I saw a show about a very overweight woman who gave up everything cold turkey. I'm talking sugar, candy, "bad" carbs, the whole nine and I remember her saying "I just realized that if I wanted to be healthy I can NEVER eat those things again". That's the point I'm getting to. I have a very extreme personality so I don't do well with moderation. I'm going to just have to give up all the shyt that makes me feel bad and never look back. It's hard because the majority are so called "comfort" foods that I kind of rely on to make me feel better but only it doesn't make me feel good at all. I need to quit being a bytch and just leave all that shyt behind.

Basically it's finding the right recipes. You may not like veggies one way, but prepared another way and its good.

After you find said recipes, maybe your significant other wont like em, or your kids. Then again its on you to prepare your own shyt, for yourself.

That's where I struggle at... making the healthy stuff. If its easily accessible I have no problem eating it....

Good luck with it.

Also gadgets, sometimes makes it easier. I don't like veggie shakes, my wife does and makes em. She always makes me one, which I drink cuz its already done.

I like making wheat wraps, with various veggies, may add tuna and pressing them on this thing she bought.

It definitely is a struggle

Make sure you don't go extreme in your diet. Moderation is key. I recommend www.HealthyMuslim.com as a useful resource.

I'm in the same situation as you OP. I sleep well, have tone, and I am active. I'm 5' 9'' 158 pounds. Problem is I eat out a lot, skip breakfast, and smoke cigarettes. I currently take meds for diabetes and hypertension and I'm 30. They run in my family, and I used to abuse drugs and alcohol. There's currently no balance in how I eat. Seems like you and i have to take a simple, slow, planned route; we are not ready to just drop it all.

I was told that it shouldn't be about fasting, dieting, or severe changes. When you take that route, u'll end up in the same situation you were, or maybe worse, when you falter of lose motivation.

I was told to plan like a month of moderating my exercise, and adding more protein and greens because I want to gain 6 pounds of muscle. It won't happen over night, but it will take writing a schedule and making an inventory of what I eat. There are websites like SuperTracker: My Foods. My Fitness. My Health. which help with that. www.Choosemyplate.gov is another official site which may help.
