Also a prep days help, that way you don't go through the "I don't feel like cooking so Imma eat this easy to cook but unhealthy food." I make 3 breakfast and lunches on Sunday and 4 more on Wednesday since I'm lazy and hate cooking for breakfast and lunch everyday.
This is actually one of my biggest problems, I don't like leftovers (rich nikka ish) so I end up just eating something quick purely because I don't feel like cooking or waiting to eat.

As a breh who is also trying to change his diet, my suggestion would be to start slow but stay consistent and committed to it. As said earlier in the thread, if you eat the food long enough, your body will start to crave it. Take the time to find out which foods you enjoy and can handle adapting to, and be sure to stay committed to the process.
:hmmm?:

I'll definitely keep this in mind breh.

I've been wanting to change my diet for the last year or so man, 30 years of fast food and process food can't be good for the body. Your normal person would look disgusting by now, I'm lucky to be in pretty good shape. My problem is I really don't like green's bland and "mushy" foods over all. I haven't had a vegetable in probably 6 months if not more.

I do go to the gym weekly
I was running weekly (haven't for a month, bulking)
I have a office job
I try and get at least 44 hours of sleep a week.

This probably sounds mad immature, but how do you all eat things that you don't enjoy at all? Do you just do it because it's the "healthy" thing to do. Part of the problem is living in southern Louisiana....everything is good eating down here and the vegetables I do eat mines well end up being hamburgers after all the extra's that are added to them.

Anyone else fight with the struggle to eat better, not diet or lose weight but legitimately just eat better or clean.

breh...i live in baton rouge...and i eat a vegatarian diet....it can be done.

inter-webs is full of all kinds of recipes....do a little research...im sure there are vegetables that would like..if cooked a certain way

I need to start doing this... I just realized I spent at least $220:scust: on junk this month....Fast Food. Alot of times Im at work,I never bring anything and its so many food placed downtown:sadcam:

I think realistically most people have the time to prep meals its just pure laziness. That time spent online, gaming etc can be better used:ehh:

Learn how to cook "bad" food at home but healthier versions of it that fit your macros. Just because it's NOT a salad or some type of raw vegetable doesn't make it bad for you. Focus on portion sizes, calories, protein, fat, sugar, carbs, and stuff like that.

I actually did that for the last 4 months or so, I was eating about 2200 calories a day or less, and 100g of protein and Fish oil and multivitamins. Honestly it was probably the best I've felt in years, I should probably just go back to that....but even when I was doing that I had fast food at least 3-4 times a week minus fries, cold drinks and cheese's.

Thats about what I spend evey two weeks on straight junk food. I could really be balling if I prepped meals and ate left overs. :mjcry:

Another positive to all of this.

That's why I said try making it at home. Burgers are super easy and you can play around with flavor and toppings. Home made fries are easy too. If it's just the convenience of those places just start planning better. A crock pot is good because you can start a meal in the morning and have something to eat when you get home. If you know you have food waiting, it's easier to skip those places.

If you want tips on a healthy yet good lunch you can just do this:

Combine any kind of protein like chicken, turkey, fish, tofu etc prepared with some olive oil
Any kind of grain like whole wheat pasta, brown rice, quinoa
Greens like kale, spinach, or whatever leafy green you chose
A cup of veggies
Some beans or legumes
Dressing like cheese, hummus, sauce, or whatever as long as its 50 calories

This with a side of some fruit and 16 oz. of water is what I eat for lunch.

Shyt, I need to do so myself. I've found that I like stuff like salads, healthier cereals, fruit, yogurt, healthier snacks, Organic/Almond Milk etc. and so on. My problem is that I don't eat it consistently enough and eventually, whatever few days of progress I make is derailed by weeks of bad eating :snoop: and I think that's the key. If you fight through the early struggles of it, you should be good to go. @Rawtid nailed it with portion control, too.

-Get a mandolin slicer for veggies. It's a game changer as far as food prep is concerned. How comfortable are you in the kitchen?

-Prep bases for future meals i.e. pre chop onions, garlic, etc. Do all of your food prep for the week on a Sunday or I guess whatever day works for you. Make large servings that can be eaten throughout the week. When I'm focused I'll normally make: a stir fry with vegetables (instead of rice I use zucchini or something) and boneless skinless chicken thighs as the base; roast a chicken, have chicken, chicken salad (plain yogurt and a bit of brown mustard instead of mayo :ahh:), and soup stock with the chicken bones; turkey chili with ground turkey, canned beans, tomatoes, and spices of my choice;

-Healthy breakfasts: Omelets (sautee veggies, dump em out, make omelet, add veggies, flip omelet over, :eat:); overnight oats (oats, yogurt, fruits of your choice and maybe a bit of honey in a container at night, eat in the morning); grilled peanut butter sandwich (real peanut butter and real whole wheat); smoothies (yogurt, whole fruit, banana to emulsify, sneak some greens in there, you probably won't taste them).

-Quesadillas are another good way to get some veggies in your life, if you use a serving of mozzarella you can get 7 grams of protein out of it.

-Healthy food doesn't have to be free of flavor from fat, salt, or sweeteners, just use it in moderation and learn to expand your palate. Roasting some things, cook some garlic and onions in a bit of olive oil, maybe even a dab of butter. Malliard reaction changes everything bruh.

-Processed food is designed to be addictive in a number of ways, there's a great article in NYT called "The Science of Junkfood Addiction." Read it. Sugar activates the same reward centers in the brain as cocaine. The article is an excerpt from a book called "Salt, Sugar, Fat" that I'm reading right now. Everything is done with profit/increasing market share in mind.

-Read some stuff from Michael Pollan, especially "Cooked," "Food Rules," and "Omnivore's Dilemma."

-I make my own junk food (icecream :ahh:) and try to limit the bullshyt that I bring home. If it's bad for me, I buy in small enough portions for it to not make it home.

I get into trouble when I drink or am dealing with a bout of melancholy, tbh. Drinking leads to fast food and heavy, greasy diner food, leads to feeling like shyt. Feedback loops and whatnot.
