I've been on transportation, logistics, and distribution (supply chain management more or less) for 10 years in 3 different fortune 500 companies; 3 of those roles have been in management,..what you wanna know?

ok im about to start summer classes
my current goal is to transfer to a major in Business at Wayne State
two choices that im liking Finance and Global SC
whats some classes that might relate to the field?
right now im takin Business Law,Speech,Calculus
whats the ceiling for this line of work?
whats the average they make?
how would that degree/field translate to my current job if any?(quicken loans)
also if you honestly had to pick between Finance and GSC which one do you think is more versatile?as far as career choices and being able to actually put the degree to use?

1. In keeping with a lot of other people already touched on. Control your emotions. Always think things through logically.
2. Complacency is the enemy. Always strive to improve youself in some way. I'm a victim of complacency just to give you guys perspective. I should be finished my bachelors by now. I turn 23 in a couple of months. Because I'm in the military and have a check coming in every 2 weeks I got lazy and I'm just now starting to get back on my grind. Which leads me to my next point
3. Make sure you invest in things nobody can take from you i.e. (degrees, self confidence, property, travel experience). If my job was gone tommorow would I be able to bounce back and have a fighting chance? With those things I would have a much better chance.
Just my 2 cents.

How is this not stickied yet? I'm tired of searching for this thread to read it. 
When you get advice think about why the person giving it to you is giving you that advice, and whether that advice has actually worked for them. A lot of people are miserable and want to drag you down with them, and a lot of people just like to hear themselves speak.
If you are young, do IT on the side. If you have other shyt going on find something that will let you work flexibly. You do that for a couple of years and get some certs you will have a lot of options, esp w/a degree.

Another good piece of advice... be aggressive about learning everything they do at your job and becoming versatile.

First you have to ask yourself, what motivates you? From my understanding of finance, it's all math, numbers, and spreadsheets.
Supply chain is a lot of that as well, you have different avenues for it procurement, transportation, warehousing, logistics; supply chain is essentially time sensitive on most cases; is product x available to make product y, which mode of transportation is the most cost effective way to get it to the customer, do we have enough space to store product y, do we have enough people to handle the demand for product y...
In supply chain you could travel a lot, be in a warehouse, on the road, or on a office...I spent most of my career in a warehouse...I recently took a step sideways out of management to get out of a warehouse and into an office.
I'd say supply chain is a more exciting field to be in, finance has more money potential. You can't go wrong with either.
Supply chain will continue to grow as an industry, simply because globalization is effecting everything. If you take the finance route, you have higher likelihood hood of upper management, vp, cfo or even CEO...most CEOs are finance or economics majors.

Also, this is not to say that supply doesn't make money...
To put it on perspective, my major in undergrad was communications, and I make very good money, not quite 6 figures...but with a master's you will make 6 easy...and with some time under your belt...5-10 years a decent company you can male 150+. My boss just turned 27, 2 years younger than me and he makes 6.
