This is the ideal but it's always easier said than done. Despite the bullshyt, there are benefits to working in corporate America.

I'd definitely agree that you don't want corporate America to be the endgame, but rather a stepping stone to doing your own thing.

You have to do that whether you're black or not.

Regardless of race, it probably is in your best interest to get money/assets while you can and not revealing any ulterior motives. There's no shame in minding your own business. When these banks don't want to help you start your business and you likely have no generational wealth, yeah...you do need to play passive to get the capital.

This should be stickied, it's too many brothers in the workforce moving slippery. You need to be on code at ALL times.

Man I been in so many situations where nikkaz show up and get comfortable in a short amount of time and think everyone is friendly and they are gone within no time.

My strategy for dealing with everyone has always been the same. I simply do better work than most people in most any work setting. My work ethic is strong. I don't kiss ass or try to get social just cordial. In and out. No matter how they feel about me they know I'm a valuable asset. I've never had major issues at a job. Most brothers I was around that got fired get too familiar, they start slipping on little things and think they getting over. Could be something as simple as dress code or trying to flirt in the office.

I take a good 6 months when I arrive somewhere just to study the environment and work culture before I can say I know how the people move.

Probably different circumstances across different career fields.

For me following that philosophy GREATLY helps with not being involved in any potential fukkery. A lot of my former white co-workers have gone out drinking and gotten involved in bullshyt that later on effected the work environment.
