Probably different circumstances across different career fields.
For me following that philosophy GREATLY helps with not being involved in any potential fukkery. A lot of my former white co-workers have gone out drinking and gotten involved in bullshyt that later on effected the work environment.

Exactly. Sometimes it's good to be in your bboy stance while fukkery commences. I wish folks would realize that work is still a business. While it's ok to mingle, it's not ok to go all out. For instance, my supervisor was having a birthday party at a restaurant, she asked if I was coming. I thought about the following:
- I'm the only person that doesn't drink within the group
- She low key can't stand me
- It's at night which can result in some potential nonsense due to heavy drinking
