nikka PLEASE...this song was everywhere, I can't imagine being nas and hearing this shyt blaring out of radios, jesus christ.

:scusthov:If he had made it official and said his name this would have been more potent than takeover, he pulled some pac shyt by making this a hit/club song while simultaneously shytting on gnuarze. Multitask brehs :blessed:
So, a song being "everywhere" means that it was "vicious"...? Nobody gave a FCUK about that song as a diss...The song is mostly known for featuring Missy Elliott than actually being a diss against Nas...

The VAST MAJORITY of the hip hop fan base don't even know that song exists, in terms of a "vicious" diss tracks..Period.

Only Jigganauts consider it a "vicious" diss track...

Nauarze knew who the fukk the record was about and that's the point, this wasn't some obscure shyt, this was a BIG fukkING RECORD.

Don't try and move the goalposts now, if you had kept your comments to "the fans weren't really hip to the fact that it was a diss" I wouldn't have quoted that dumb shyt.

But alas...

I never heard that song...I can guarantee that only Jigga fans know that song...

That song has only ever been mentioned on SOHH and The Coli...

Saying that this wasn't vicious because he didn't mention Nas name must also mean that Drake not saying Common's name on "Stay Schemin" made that verse wack. The only difference is that now we have Twitter so we knew the history. All of those rappers back then were throwing shots and hiding their hands. I wouldn't have caught half those disses as a kid if it wasn't for my older cousins.

Jesus. It's 2014.
Y'all still can't get past the Nas/Jay shyt??

By vicious I mean flow and...it was jay at his braggodocious best. I mean just the visuals.
Coming home to empty soda cans that jigga left all over your crib :scusthov:

if it was about nas then so be it.

I think Nas won the battle.
I stopped caring about that battle a few months after stillmatic too.

Exactly.

I mean everyone is entitled to their opinion...but I feel everyone just says it's terrible because that's the conventional thing to say.

Volume 3 is my forth favorite Jay album behind RD, BP1 and Black Album.

Right.

You had to be in/around the industry to even catch on to behind the scenes shyt, and you probably still didn't catch on to it right away with social media how it is today.

It can still be vicious in hindsight...especially since you got nikkas on here reminiscing about a :ld: ass nas jab at pac like it was something potent.

:mjpls:

I think the fact that possibly the only person who knew that this song was about Nas, was Nas himself would probably make the whole diss aspect more intimate/infuriating.

:banderas:

The real ill shyt about all this though is that as dope as they both knew they were, they were really tip toeing around each other for a good minute, they were really on each others ass :whoa: creatively/competitively. That steel sharpens steel shyt rings true here.

^^^^eh. Nas wasn't at all on Jay's wavelength competitively and if records like Undying Love are the straws one grasps going the creative route than heaven help us.
