I get that the DV rate amongst football players is half the average, I'm just wondering if you meant to say the rate amongst police is just over half the average as well, or did you mean the police rate was greater than the national average?
was typing on my phone, edited it...po po is 2-4 times the national average, with more of a fear of reporting from their spouses so maybe higher...

You cats making nfl players martyrs in this are hilarious

In any other line of work Greg Hardy for instance would be fired and in jail already..he's already been found guilty by a court of law

In the nfl he was still fukking playing and when they finally suspended him he's still making 13 mill a year

No. They wouldn't...They may have to go to anger counseling or pay a fine....Do you really think dudes are going to jail 60-years for every DV case majority of them don't even go to jail passed the cool down period.

But no one has suggested this...Would a woman get the same amount of time? would she lose her job?

I've only seen people who are required to hold a weapon lose there job for DV and they had to do some next level shyt or have a job that requires a clearance.

If you want to propose one standard for all of society in regards to this issue cool....But Hell no I don't expect a football player to be the measuring stick of moral integrity....Shouldn't that be "Elected Officials"

You might want to read up on that hardy case breh it's pretty brutal

These players aren't being held to a higher standard they're examples that in this country if u have earning potential u can get away with almost anything

I got a partner who blacked both his chicks eyes, busted her lip, and knocked out 2 of her teeth....She was the one who bailed him out....He ended up being charged with interference with emergency communications.

I get that to you the case was pretty bad seems like dude got turned up beat his girl threw her on some guns and said i'd kill you. That was some of my key take aways from it.

I've also had a partner whose girl stabbed him and that chick ain't get shyt.

I said that to say DV isn't a set standard....Clearly Hardy didn't receive jail time even with the appeal i doubt he gets more than 120 days.

I'm just happy I grew up wtching the game in the 80s and 90s where nikkaz had no respect for human life. Dudes were getting laid out and it was welcomed. No pussified rules. Great D, crap QBs weren't babied by rules bent on increasing offense. Off the field stories didn't dominate games and the media wasn't dominated by "personalities".

Imagine if LT played now. Half the memories we have of him would not exist.

that article is cool, but that website is filled with white supremacists.

The funny thing is a lot of the guys on this board sound exactly like racist white people do when race issues get brought up in sports. They were saying the same exact thing people on here are saying now when the Sterling situation happened.

"I'm tired of these minority groups always trying to push their agenda."

"I just want to watch sports, I could care less if some guy hates black people."

"I'm sick of seeing all of this racism talk on Sportscenter, I only care about the games."

:why: Since when did athletes become the gold standard for being a human being? Domestic violence and child abuse is terrible, but what 5 players out of damn near 2000 do isn't going to affect me watching football. People can't separate shyt anymore. You do wrong/commit a crime, you get dealt with and face the consequences. What Ray Rice and the other 4 nikkas did has no bearing on whether I can enjoy the games on Sunday.
