Long article here goes some quotes: No lies told

How Xbox One became the best console of this generation - Reader’s Feature

Let’s start with the games. This Christmas will mark the third year Sony has a lack of mainstream first party games, and it’s not because they don’t see the holidays as a good time to release games, but because the likelihood of Sony’s games releasing on time is about the same as a one-legged man’s chances of winning an arse-kicking contest. I’d list the games that Sony’s delayed this generation but it’s pretty much every game. Of the games they have released I feel only Uncharted 4 has lived up to expectations

I also hold Sony responsible for No Mans Sky’s terrible time at release. If ever there was a game that should have followed the Minecraft model of being available early at a cheap price and then kept iterating and updating it over the years, Hello Games labour of love was it. But Sony pushed for it to be a £49.99 release, with all the expectations that price point brings, and now Hello Games’ name is mud in a lot of gamers’ eyes.

It’s also the case that Sony have shifted a lot of internal developers to supporting PlayStation VR. It’s a difficult choice to deride, as they are going to need games to sell the hardware (and I do hope they succeed, VR looks incredible). But it’s a choice that means if you have no interest in VR, Sony are taking your money and investing it in technology and games you'll never play

I know it’s subjective but I feel Microsoft’s release schedule is much better, with a guaranteed Forza each Christmas alongside a tent pole release like Halo and Gears. And accompanied by new IP such as Titanfall, Sunset Overdrive, Quantum Break, and ReCore. Which is taking the exact opposite approach to Sony and releasing new IP at a lower price point to entice customers, even though ReCore is not an indie title and has far more than 11 people working on it.

Next up is the quality of PS Plus against Games with Gold. Someone wrote in recently about their dissatisfaction at Sony’s selection of games arriving on the system, and I couldn’t agree more. A situation made more frustrating as Microsoft are generally hitting it out of the park at the moment. Every month you seem guaranteed a full price title (WWE 2K16 this month) and the added bonus of two Xbox 360 games. That’s four free games a month on Xbox, usually higher quality and definitely better value proposition than Sony’s string of indie titles.

Oh, yeah… Free. Backwards compatibility

All true facts from a comment on the article

Having had my ps4 and xbox one from launch i pretty much agree with most of this. The ps4 is used as a paper weight all year round until a decent exclusive comes out, which isn't often lets face it. Still think bloodborne is the best exclusive of either console though.

The elite controller is just the cherry on top, compared to the dodgy ps4 one that i have to put external thumb grips on and take off the L1 button every now and again as it decides to stick even though its hardly used. Not to mention having to cover that stupid light up with a sticker.

It is funny how little flack sony have taken this generation. Considering they still wont allow EA access on their console, the continued mess up of first party games from driveclubs ps plus lies to gran turismo being delayed etc. Now launching the pro without a 4k blu ray drive even though the xbox one s has one and costs alot less

Hard to argue against that.

Xbox has had consistent exclusives since 2013 like Halo MCC which I thought was great, Halo 5, Forza Series and my personal favorite Sunset Overdrive etc.

The media features are unparalleled and updates steady; thus bringing forth a sense of evolution.

Controller wise, it's no competition. The Elite controller is by far the best controller out bar none. Perfect for shooters and racers.

Online these days you can't go wrong with XBL. A few bumps here and there but it works.

I also can't forget to mention that the Xbox 1 S is just the perfect slim revision they've dropped ever. They put in 4K bluray and future proofed it at a great price. Even though the games are still the same, the HDR and upscaling on newer tvs ensure you get a trade off regardless.

Sony on the other hand... well.. It's selling :ld:. UC4 looks nice.
Plus the main menu is boring.

You have to admit besides Uncharted and Bloodbourne Sony exclusives this generation has been failures and same could be said about on some Xbox titles. Sony is unparalleled marketing their exclusives which doesn't make a game great buto creates a hype.

Sunset Overdrive amazing game
Halo 5 great game but losing (besides Multiplayer) its luster like Uncharted
Forza actually gaining popularity
Dead Rising gaining popularity as always because of Zombies
State of Decay 2 is coming great game and exclusive
Recore new game title priced very cheap
Gear of Wars still popular
Quatum Break was a great title but like Sony titles didn't live up to hype. I think graphically it is up there with one of the best graphics this gen.
