not a bad idea i suppose. i just don't bother with tv at all. everythjng i want, i can stream. i wish microsoft would just take it back to the og xbox and just be about gaming. there's no reason to expand when you don't even have the best specs in the first place. conquer and then expand.

still way too much of a hassle being a cheapskate like that...that doesn't fly as a bachelor and you have to go through hoops so you and your date can watch tv on the big screen...if your married i'm sure your wife wouldn't be able to figure out how to watch a random sitcom or American Idol

if your like some big fat dude who plays minecraft all day and is a loner and finds weird illegal websites to stream his stuff i guess you can get rid of cable

but having an xbox where you can say "xbox ppv...find Man of Steel" is kind of cool bro

Agreed. These smart TVs on the market now have built in DLNA and shyt. Some have voice and camera recognition built in (my new TV does). Tech is crazy nowadays. Paying a cable bill on top of a subsidized Xbox One isn't bad, but having a useless unit if you miss a payment would create big time fukkery.

true, but the price of the coolness doesn't replace the fact you still need your cable box. If there was a way you can kill the cable box and only need the xbox one, that would have been the way to go. Unfortunately that would be a cold day in hell since the Cable companies aren't letting go of that box revenue.

i was looking at smart boxes you can connect to the tv too but i can't find any good reviews on any of their interfaces or voice controls

I'm not replacing my panasonic plasma it was one of the top rated panels and i got it in 2011 before smart tv's were really hitting the market

Once again y'all are exaggerating the death of cable and satellite tv. Yes if your technical enough you can get around it, But most are not. Directv and others are getting bigger not smaller.

I don't think cable/sattelite are going anywhere. I said they aren't getting rid of their boxes because box leases are additonal revenue.

I don't need the xbox to do everything if I have it's capabilities by other means. Be my gaming system. Smart TVs are killing the need for consoles to be middle men to get the apps and features needed as they have these capabilities built in now.

And yes, your console would not work if you didn't pay the bill. It happens now with people who did the subsidized 360.
