Depression is real. Some of y'all confusing it with sadness cause depression affects your perception, thinking, sleep, & how you act in very fukked up ways.

Seeing a family member go through severe depression & seeing how it debilitating it was terrible. shyts no joke.

I have sympathy for most. For the people that have legit reasons to be depressed I can understand it and hope they have an outlet to help with their issues. It's not a joke and it can take a lot to get through.

People that have very low expectations about life and are happy just to be alive won't understand it so it's pointless to expect them to get it which is why it's important for those that are depressed to find people they can relate to for support. Whenever I see people that seem or look depressed I hope that they have some type of support in their life and aren't surrounded by people that think people should be happy because the sun came up or even worse idiots that call them a bytch or a p*ssy for being down about life and belittle their reasoning for being down about life.

It's funny, you don't really get people calling bullshyt on any other disorder quite like depression. :yeshrug:

I had a girlfriend that used to be bulimic. It didn't make sense to me but at the same time...I respected that that shyt was for real and really tortured her. :(

So please, if a person opens up to you and actually admits they are depressed, which a lot of people just keep it within, do not tell them to man up or just brush it off. Help them seek professional help. shyt is real.

Do you emphasize for them?

Yes. Very much have compassion and empathy for those who suffer from depression.

do u think depression isnt real and for pussies?

Depression is very real and effects many people. The problem is that many people do not understand the dynamics surrounding depression and directly or indirectly misunderstand and/or mistreat those who suffer from depression.

how would you handle a depressed friend or family member?

It depends. Many people who are depressed just want emotional support. Unfortunately, people aren't trained to deal with those who suffer from depression which is why it is best foe the depressed person to seek professional help, if possible.

If a family member or friend confided in me thst he or she was going through the blues, then I would lend an ear as well as offer whatever comfort and support I am able to provide.

I would also encourage them to get counseling. Not a fan of psychiatry, but if that is what is needed(meaning medicine), then so be it.

does talkin to them help?

etc

I think it does, but it isn't enough for some people. The last thing a depressed person need is someone who is willfully ignorant or simply lack empathy and compassion towards them.

Depraved hearted people need to stay away from depressed people and allow those who want to help to provide assistance. IMO, some people treat depression like it is a religion. Smh.

They commit suicide in "third world countries" though?

List of sovereign states by suicide rate - Wikipedia

Have to question the methodology, information gathering and reporting on that info. But it makes sense that rates would be observable in developing countries .

But I wasn’t speaking to suicide . I was speaking to the luxury that residents have of such countries as the U.S. to be “depressed” while being afforded the basics of life (food, water, clothing , shelter , decent physical health and health care)... and then some .

For the coli fam that doesn’t believe in depression let me break it down. And this comes from someone dealing with it right now.

Just picture:

The normal person wakes up and sees sunshine and is grateful for another day.

A depressed person wakes up and thinks ‘damn, some little girl got abducted last night and she’s never coming home’

It’s very real. We all fam I’ll disclose. I’m in the process of driving from Detroit to Seattle right now. Pops died last year and I’ve damn near lost my mind in the real world. Right now I’m in a bum ass South Dakota motel right now and it’s 5 degrees. This drive is A LOT harder than I thought but I’m doing what I have to do to try to get better.

To my brehs struggling don’t give up and keep ya head up
