I've known Ras for a long time. I think he has a lot of great ideas for the city and will do well. But I know change ain't gonna happen overnight. It's going to be an uphill battle with the homicide rate, budget deficit, and getting resources here in the city.

He knows the city and the people more than anybody else. He made central high school better as the principal so that says something

:lupe: all i know is that its easier going to continue as is with barely a change or going to turn into a mini Harlem. Only time will tell

I remember him from the docu-series "Brick City". It's interesting to see him come from being a community activist to the mayor. Hopefully, he continues what Cory Booker started. I've never been to Newark, but from the outside looking in Cory did a lot of good for the city.

Right. Unlike Booker, Ras has been in these streets (and the streets choice)for 20 years. He's been on the frontline dealing directly with these gangs, shooters, etc. So with him being in office will definitely race the morale up in the city. Because he's one of our own. I just hope his ideas will come into fruition because I know it's going to be an uphill battle.

He did some good with expanding downtown. But for us who lived here, Booker was great in benefitting HIMSELF and not necessarily the citizens of Newark.

As long as the same residents live in Newark, nothing will change. Money don't grow on trees.

This. Plenty of money been funded to help Newark, but it surely never went towards improving the city.

Plus you got ratchet nikkas from the JC waterfront being continously gentrified back to Newark anyways.
