She lost me the minute she started expressing adoration of her boyfriend's beautiful curls. Whether she realizes it or not, that fondness of his hair is a symptom of self-hate that she clearly is infected with and hasn't yet acknowledged. And a black woman wearing a weave is not the same thing as a white woman wearing one. She can try to excuse obvious self hating tendencies within our community by referencing similar behavior exhibited by other races, but that argument is facile and intellectually dishonest. Black women, from birth, are raised to hate the inherent beauty of blackness and to worship the unattainable ideal of whiteness advertised by popular media. Black women are bombarded daily with images that amount to at their appearance. And black men have fallen victim to the same campaign of white worship and black denigration. You see it on this forum, where many socalled blacks worship white/Spanish/mixed women but never fully black females.
