He quit over mr america cuz vince cut his pay cuz he wasnt "hulk hogan"... i woulda did the same. Lmao at using kayfabe to cut a mans REAL check

And what did hulk do to hbk? Hbk cried cuz he wanted the first win of the series and hulk wasnt having it. If anyone was gon beat hbk then , hulk on that list. Why would hulk come back after that match. It showed hbk wouldnt do business.. hulk did nothing wrong that summerslam. Ill never understand why vince let that shyt slide as it madw a conplete mockery of the biz.

Hulk was very popular after wm18 which is why they gave him the belt one last time. The red n yellow was a top draw (rock only one ahead at that time and he barelt was).

Hulk vs rock should have mainevented wm18. That was such a big match.

And ill take hulks shytty workrate and god level paychology over these guys today who only know how to do cool moves EVERYTIME.

so much wrong in this post. And most importantly so much hindsight.

First of all, NOBODY believed Hogan could beat HBK at that time. This was renewed prime HBK coming off THREE classic WM matches against Jericho, Benoit/HHH, and Angle. Hogan was an old man. Now if you said 2002 or 03 Hogan, maybe you have a argument. But this was 2005...Hogan didnt fight at WM in 2004 or 2005 if i recall. But he pops up in 2005 for Summerslam and is supposed to go over HBK?

So yeah, Vince understood WHY Shawn did what he did in that match because he knew it wasn't sensible, but I guess Hogan winning a big match as an underdog now, is good for business.

Also, again ur hindsight is clouding reality....Hogan/Rock was a COMPLETE surprise the way it turned out. Nobody knew the crowd in Toronto would react like that because in the weeks leading up to the show the crowd was pretty normal, ie pro-Rock, some boos for Hogan. That's what made the match so special was the way the crowd reacted.

I knew that shyt was coming a mile away. Hulk hogan back at mania... we all thought it was gon be a makn event BEFORE the ppv so idk why u acting like it was a suprise. The suprise of the night wasbthat it WASNT gonna be main event not that hulk was gonna be cheered. Wm is a mark crowd in toronto aka hulk country.

Theres 3 names at that time that shoulda went over shawn no matter what. Hulk. Austin. Rock. Anyone else shawn can beat.. the reason they brought in hulk is cause SHAWN ISNT A TRUE DRAW. Hence why those WMs did shyt buyrates i believe. I dont care how good shawn was back then he wasnt as popular as he was in 96/97. He wasnt a top tier draw at alll.

They wouldnt even have brought in hulk of shawn was poppin. I bet you that summerslam did bigger numbers than the previous ones.

Thts like rock coming back today and losing to jericho... not happening. Never will.

Why are you remaking my point? I said Hogan winning over Shawn was most likely, good for business amongst nostalgic fans. But that doesn't change the fact that it's bs to true fans. So Shawn did what he did during the match and I don't blame him. That match would've been awful if not for his entertaining over-the-top antics.

And again, the RAW crwods leading up to WM 18 gave no indication of basically making Hogan/Rock double switch during the match. So it was a surprise. You could look at facial reactions of Rock during the match and see how surprised he was.

you had to be an 80's baby to understand

Hulk coming back as a face brought everything full circle....at that time. The circle was complete.

Which is why when he came back again a few years ago nobody cared.

Post 9/11 world people were ready for nostalgia

Jordan in a Wizards uniform, Hogan coming back, Mitchell and Ness in general(:troll:), shyt I could even make the argument the reason the comic book/superhero craze started around that time and got boosted was because of going back to their childhood and seeing there heroes again (Spiderman on the big screen, Superman on the small screen in Smallville)

You know whats funny about this time, I was really surprised how much Hogan was taking losses (Rock twice, Taker, Angle, Brock, fukking Lance Storm and them). Yes he had 2 brief title runs (Undisputed and tag) but I was really surprised especially with the nostalgia pop

Then I realized he did get the win back against Angle on TV, Trips even even stevened him and he thought he was beating Brock.

Which begs the question was Big Show any better of a loss? I would have had Brock keep going and lose it to Angle and get it back at Mania 19

because Vince realized that Hogan was an old man at that point and him winning those wouldnt really be believable. I can't remember the Lance Storm loss, damn. lol

That's why I'm sure HBK was pissed at having to job to Hulk. In the end tho, Vince knew that loss wouldn't really hurt Shawn and Shawn made sure of that by turning the match into a cartoon. :lolbron:

No Hogan was supposed to lose here, go away for months, and then vignettes showing him training to take on Lesnar were supposed to start leading to match at Summerslam or Royal Rumble.

Hogan learned he was going to lose again, and he scrapped the whole angle.

That would have been cool but hulk had to know he couldn't go over Brock at that time his best case was a protected loss in the rematch or someone interfering and helping hulk which starts a fued with whoever interfered... But the vignettes would have been a nice 80s throwback

You sure? I remember him being pretty over at this time. He even had one promo when the fans were so wild with cheers they wouldn't let him talk for about 5 mins. Iirc it was after he won the title

he has an unnecessary hate for hulk that clouds his memory

I meant the tag Edge and Hogan lost the belts to. Was it Storm and Christian?

He definetly got his juice back when he came back (Going over Shawn and Randy Orton). But the main reason the HBK-Hogan match program went to shyt was Vince was stirring the pot. Both guys came in acting professional and agree to split losses but then Vince started popping mad shyt to both about taking a loss in an effort to get them to do work-shoot promos.
I remember Alex Greenfield and Court Bauer talked about it
