Sen. Ted Cruz, Rep. Francis Rooney introduce amendment to set term limits on Congress

U.S. senators would be limited to two six-year terms and members of the U.S. House of Representatives would be capped at three two-year terms, according to the amendment introduced Thursday. Cruz introduced a similar proposal in January 2017.

I'm not against this. I think the limit should be 8 - 10 years, though. It takes a long time for actual work to get done in Congress and I don't know if a well-meaning person can do it in 5 - 6 years

agreed, why not make it the same times. 12 in the senate and 12 in congress

for someone who sucks america's proverbial dikk as much as you do, keep in mind that washington setting the 2 term precedent was one of the greatest things in human history

I support this bill because being a congressman was never intended as a lifelong career. You got too many of these career politicians who are deeply entrenched in that world for term after term while getting nothing accomplished. And after they retire they get a fat lifelong pension that is well beyond anything a regular person could expect from the private sector.

But it won't pass and after it doesn't I highly doubt Ted Cruz will practice what he preaches and not seek reelection once his current term expires

No. I wouldn't vote for this. If Ted Cruz is so concerned with term limits, no one is stopping him from dropping out. And why 2 6-year limits and 2 2-year limits? Shouldn't it be 2 6-year limits and 6 2-year limits? Each Congressperson gets 12 years in Congress. Fair for everyone.

This is just a bullshyt vote in reaction to Pelosi and to make sure another Pelosi doesn't come along wipe the floor with them again. Also, I believe this is also in response to some bullshyt that's coming that we don't know about yet.

His current term is up in 2024, just in time for a Presidential election. Pretty safe bet he's running in 2024.
