I'm 100% black all the time, no matter what I'm doing. I've never been anything else and I don't want to be.

I say that to say, I don't like it when people try to downplay their kind/race.

If it doesn't fit anyone's stereotypical definition then that is their problem and they don't understand what race is.

Personally I don't think that kind of mentality is.coming from a negative or harmful place per se.

Also, I wonder did OP take this up with her instead of coming back here?:patrice:
Probably not. Dudes like him and his bytch ridedolo quiet as church mice IRL but get on here got the fukking yaps. OP does like 4/5 of these threads a day. Its like damn fam you don't got NO friends to talk to outside of here where you bring the same topic up everyday.

After reading the thread there's no point in defending the individual that made this statement, but the statement in itself isn't a negative statement. It seems like a neutral view to me. I don't get why society has such a problem with dragging themselves and others into things when a statement like this is only about the individual making the statement.

I have the same view and it has nothing to do with trying to run away from being black. It's about not being put in a box and being expected to act the way ignorant non blacks expect all black people to be. People should know the difference between a belief like this and the "I don't see color" type of belief. It's not the same. Being yourself and promoting your own individuality isn't always about casting out others and a lot of times has nothing to do with other people.

I agree.

You can be a sell out ass Black person or down for the cause.
You can be a broke ass Black person or gettin' bread.
You can be a wealthy, selfish ass Black person ore creatin' other wealthy Blacks.
You can be and ignorant Black person or know self, history & the system you live in.

Bein' Black gives you a certain potential. Who you are is what you do with it.

Hard to tell without context. But if she's saying that she can't be defined through stereotypes as to what black people are supposed to be like than I agree
