Word why did he leave? Was he heart broken or some shyt? Did he think of im gonna marry Toni and get on another level lol?
don't quote me, but I always thought he was p*ssy whipped. Plus he produced some tracks for her on future albums. You know how there is always a woman in a band member's ear like, "you don't need them, you can write songs and produce without them". hahah. I'm not saying that happened, but it's a possibility. Plus he may not have liked the tour schedule after getting married.

Actual bands with instrumentation were no longer popular in the 90s. Industry shift...they weren't being promoted

Yeah, they were a band in the middle of the "hip-hop soul" era. I might say they only had one single that could be considered a crossover hit. They weren't doing remixes and featuring rappers on their shyt... not that there's anything wrong with that but that pretty much sums up why they weren't "big" at the time. They were popular, and that was amongst an older black crowd more than anything. Their music was more mature for the time, it wasn't like they had a lot of impact with the same crowd that was rocking with Jodeci, MJB, SWV, TLC, etc... you could see them on Video Soul but rarely on MTV Jams. You could catch "U Send Me Swingin" on the radio but not as much as "Freekin You" or a Boyz II Men song. Highly respected tho'.

this!
