This is funny and accurate as hell. I know exactly what you mean. This is how young kids (rebound) or do any new skill. I could see a kid boxing out and not grabbing the ball, the coach screaming,.and the kid like you said box out.

Pat had me fooled man. He size, athleticism, hand size, touch (at times)....i was like bro can luck into 15 pounts a game.....but nope.
Remember Patโ€™s 9 assist/1 turnover game?

Dude grew up a guard. Absolutely bizarre that weโ€™ve never seen a consistent version of him. It annoys me cause I see him following shots for rebounds and boxing folks out. He can never put together enough complete games to look like a solid choice. The last two times literally ended in injury (Dec of โ€˜23 he looked like he was coming the fukk alive before the foot injury and the 4 games before Mitchell Robinson whacked him and caused him to break his hand.)

He falls into the 10 points he gets now. Doesn't get to the FT and doesn't back cut... EVER. Rarely posts up or demand the ball even when a guard is switched on him. Just stands at the 3 point line. Doesn't attack the offensive glass. Just jogs back. Plays damn near asleep for real and still some how winds up with 10 points.

I also think Lonzo Ball has more lobs this season than he does. Just think about that. Lonzo Ball with a zombie leg has caught more lobs this season than Pat has. I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

Im glad this was upped!! I brought this thread up with my wife last week when we were talking about nikkas not knowing when to give up on their first love and still fighting thru it.

I couldn't remember the player name so I couldn't show it to her. I never would have remembered Patrick Williams. That's so random :deadrose:

You can pencil in a 3 pointer or two a game, outside of that, there's nothing else he's doing right now on an NBA starter level.
Line tonight 24 minutes vs a G-League Roster...

10 points on 4/8 shooting and 2/3 from 3
2 rebounds
0 assists
0 steals
0 blocks
0 fouls

:unimpressed:

If he comes off the bench that's good production
Billy used to bench him pre-extension. He's just one of those players that's going to give you the same production in 20 minutes or 35.

It is what it is at this point

I used to go :beli: and edit tendencies on 2k23 and 2k24 because they'd have Pat still averaging like 9 ppg in year 5 and shyt.

Turns out they were spot on:mjcry:

the crazy thing is we all know he sucks and he still got a 90 million dollar deal
something is broken with the league where that can happen
Nah, he's an above-average defender who does what has become one of the more valuable archetypes since the Golden State revolution: 3-D wing.

He's down in the dumps right now in terms of how Bulls fans feel about him but there isn't a team that wouldn't grab him, especially if they thought actually running 3-4 plays for him a game would get more value out of him. His biggest weakness is not being a better rebounder but if another team was either rebuilding and gave him a bigger role OR brought him off the bench for matchup-based defensive minutes, he is serviceable.

The #1 mistake with the whole situation was drafting him to be a centerpiece knowing what his biggest issue is (no self-determination and hustle)and switching from a developing team to a win more team and putting his passive ass as the 5th option with a limited role. Assuming he is never going to get better, there are better ways to use him still and it appears that whatever they do with him off the court, his on the court role is "find out how to make a difference." He spent a couple of years getting benched the moment he made a mistake and was never really forced to play through it. If he was going to be a net-negative, we would have known this definitively had AKME not pivoted from "draft and development" to win-now. Add in two seasons derailed by serious injuries and we have the same guy we got 4 years ago only a little bit worse.

Guy doesnโ€™t look like he likes playing basketball that much. He has all the tools and he shows flashes but heโ€™s just very ho hum most of the time. If he wasnโ€™t physically gifted heโ€™d be a software engineer or something.

It is interesting because the Bulls should have been able to easily squeeze him due to his injury history and performance. I know it was put out there that at least 1 team was going to pursue him in RFA but it's clear as day right not that they should have let him the market distract his deal.

The player option in Year 5 is very stupid
