Nah, I still can't get over the fact that it was twenty-year-old that released this perfection (and created the shyt when he was younger than that) :ahh:

it wasnt the most talked about in 94, and it might sound dated, but so does a lot of other joints from 94

but its certainly one of the most important albums of the genre, hence a classic. anyone who thinks otherwise are just in denial, or just doesnt recognise the significance

The Infamous>>>>Illmatic

I've said illmatic are revisionists favorite album it wasn't the best album of 94

Ready to die,The diary,Thug Life Vol 1,Funkdafied and creepin on the come up all had more buzz than illmatic and hard to earn was better too

who cares if they had more buzz? none of those albums (except infamous, which i prefer to illmatic) touch illmatic.

:heh: @ you crack smoking nikkas and your opinions.

You was like 6 when Illmatic dropped, how did you comprehend it that it was the greatest thing you've heard?

My decision stays still tho, Illmatic is not for me.

Breh your assuming that when HE first heard it is when it came out which is obviously not so.

if you haven't tried to rap along with AZ on Life's a bytch, you haven't lived life :manny:

Preach brethren, why isnt this brought up as a "murdered on your own shyt" hiphop moment

I was in the 9th grade when I first heard Illmatic (14yo, that was 6 years ago). and I didnt like it at all. This was when I would SOHH and wanted to :pacspit: on y'all nikkas for recommending it. Then a couple weeks later I played it while doing some homework and man I was in awe. Just kept replaying it, then one day I sat and listened to it while readin the lyrics so I can memorize every lyric. I think Ive forgot most of it tho. I can recite (AZ life's a bytch verse, the opening verse to NYSoM, and the 1st verse on the World is Yours )

On another side but unrelated note how come that 1st verse on The World is Yours isnt brought up in GOAT verse discussions. It may be the greatest technical verse but its impact is huge. First off its a dope verse on a CLASSIC TOP 5 hiphop album. Every other line is a quotable and it sparked two other classic hiphop songs.
