I can't objectively reccomend getting a PS4 over an XB1 right now

Guilty Gear and Street Fighter are better than anything on Xbox. Blazblue is always on Playstation but rarely on Xbox. The new Dissidia game will probably only be on PS4, Fighting games are probably half of what I play, I would never even consider getting an Xbox One. I chose Xbox 360 over PS3 (only because it was cheaper) and missed out on a lot of good games.
I hear you. Even last gen I refused to buy fighters on the 360 off the strength of the PS3 controller alone. I could never stand the 360's dpad. People would argue to just buy an arcade stick, but I was always better with a controller. Guilty Gear is mad dope, and I always forget to mention it when talking about console exclusives. That game doesnt get anywhere near the attention is deserves.

If they ever make a new Rival Schools or Bloody Roar and make it console exclusive to PS4 I might never touch my XB1 again.

Owning both systems, I agree. I didn't realize how similar these systems were until I bought an Xbox One and had nothing to buy but a few games because I owned literally everything on my PS4.

I play with a 360 controller myself. It's not great but I'm not a competitive player so I don't need an arcade stick and I've been using it so long it doesn't bother me anymore. I've seen a lot of praise for Guilty Gear Xrd when it first came out but like any other series that isn't a big name it's forgotten after awhile. I never played Bloody Roar but I would like to see a new one. Doesn't seem very likely though. I liked Clayfighters as a kid but playing it now its not very good.

I caught on to this shyt last gen. If you play all your multiplat games + its own exclusives on one console and you only play the exclusives on another, the console that you only have for 1 or 2 exclusives is going to collect dust to a point where you can't even justify owning it.

That why I don't own a Xbox One and sold my Wii U after not even having it plugged in for 6+ months.

In response to the constant console wars (which I completely understand will continue no matter what because brand loyalty will always exist) I thought about it for a minute and have come to the conclusion that I wouldn't be able to recommend getting a PS4 over an XB1 to anyone looking at buying a next gen system today.

Granted, Sony is killing it, and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future, but I'm one to believe that this is due largely to the fact of how terribly MS handled the launch of the XB1. They were shoving Kinect down everyone's throat and were backpedaling like mad when gamers started an uproar about the always online plans they had for the console. To make matters worse, they came out the gate $100 higher than their direct competition which to the PS4's credit, it came out with a very easy to understand console, under a brand that people worldwide respect highly in the video game market.

Fast forward to today, and the XB1 can be purchased everywhere with several games (Great games by the way) bundled with it often times for less than you would pay for a PS4. When you think of the best games of this gen, you will begin to mention multi-platform games. (Unless you're one of those guys that purposely only lists console exclusives for the sake of arguing. (Yeah, yeah, we know you had fun with Bloodborne, but we had much more fun with Metal Gear Solid V and Fallout 4 but those games get dismissed all the time because they're available on that other console you hate)

So yes, while MS royally screwed up the launch, TODAY, if you were to buy an XB1 over a PS4, you would not really be missing out on anything special. Sure, Bloodborne and Until Dawn are cool, but they definitely aren't console sellers. Also, the XB1 has a hard time hitting 1080p for whatever reason, and we all get a laugh out of that, but can the vast majority of gamers really pick out the difference between 900p and 1080p? Even if they could, is it really impacting the overall experience?

So if someone asks me today, "Which console should I get?"

First, the one the majority of your friends have if you plan on playing with them. Second, which ever one has the best deal at the time, because regardless of which console you get, at the end of the day, you'll be playing the same games as everyone else with more or less the same experience. I prefer PS4 because I'm loyal to the Sony brand because I grew up in the glory days of the PS1 and PS2, but I could definitely see why people would buy an XB1.

:leostare:
you make some great points breh...I mean they are pretty even IMO, I give a shyt about the "specs" etc that most people bring up with systems....but the most important point is the one where you should choose the console your friends have....I didnt play much online with the 360/ps3(esp the ps3, mever liked the triggers...corrected that problem with the ps4), so this is the first gen that that mattered to me. Most my friends got a ps4, and playing battlefront/cod/madden against them is just straight piff....

Oh, I play a lot of fighting games, I still wouldn't buy a console for one fighter alone though....but...I agree with your point 100%

I would if that one fighter was Street Fighter or Tekken (tho maybe not soo much for Tekken now.) I bought Street Fighter 3 Double Impact for Dreamcast and didn't even have a dreamcast. (my niece had one, I just played it over there).

Definitely, and a strong audience at that. I'm not taking away anything from that. Just pointing out that it would be VERY RARE to hear a person say they were buying a PS4 for Bloodborne or Disgaea.

No console will ever convince me to cop it just to play a single game. Scalebound looks piff on the Xbone, but it ain't enough to justify purchase.

Not one, but a collection of strong exclusives might, and at this point in time there really aren't enough great exclusives to brag about. Its like I said, the biggest games so far in terms of quality and fun have been multiplats

That's usually the reason you see some cats who buy a secondary console later be like "Man I haven't turned on my PS4/XB1 in weeks/months. It's collecting dust."

Having two systems and you already have a big library on one makes the other one irrelevant. I think I'm good with this Wii U, PS4 and PC combo. I don't think I'll cop an XB1 this gen. :yeshrug:

Naw, I stop fukking with XBOX when my 360 keep getting the red ring of death. It been PlayStation ever since. :yeshrug:

The red ring of death is what killed XBOX future IMO.

Piece of crap 360s...

I started off with the PS2. It was cool.

Then I got the original XBOX and I loved it. Worked great.

Then I moved up to the 360.

I had 5 red rings of deaths on 5 separate 360 consoles.

Then I got the xbox slim and it wouldnt start after a few months. Red dot of death.

I was even going to give XBOX another chance by getting the XBOX One, until I saw their bullshyt policies before their launch.

I have found the light, am I am now officially a proud member of team PS4.
