Meanwhile the BLACK locals are doing what... walking around no sunscreens
Wrong. They actively avoid being in direct sunlight. Hats, long sleeve clothes, umbrellas, or generally staying their ass inside during brightest part of the day. Kenya, Latin America, the Caribbean -- they all do this.

Exactly. I went to Panama City Beach in Florida. I used sunblock and even I still felt a little bit a pain on my face, sunburned ain't no joke. my skinwas getting darker.

Without sunblock.....:damn: You out of your damn mind.
This thread has changed my opinion on things a bit lol

Never needed or used sunscreen but also never really taken in a summer outside of the North East Coast of U.S

From there and not in my experience. I only went in After Dark and so did most people in my hood. Nikkaz DO NOT WALK AROUND WITH UMBRELLAS IN THE SUN STOP IT. That's some Asian shyt :mjlol:

All brehs simply do is take a break in the shade when they get too hot then get back in the sun.

Yes they do. I've been bouncing back and forth in S America for the last 3 years. I'm in Colombia now and I can definitely confirm this is the case. And yes, I'm talking about Afro-Colombians.

Y'all really don't think black folks can get sunburn:comeon:
I once spent a whole day at a water park in 100 degree weather and got sun burned. :mindblown:. I'm black.
I think the water on my skin also had a magnifying effect when rays hit the droplets and it burned mm more.

After that day I wear sunblock.

Yeah, I think the sun's reflecting off the water makes it more intense. I'm brown-skinned (:dame:) and I def get light sun burn now on the beach/water park for 2-3 hours since I work in a office 9-5 all the time. I don't think its as bad if you're use to being outdoors shirtless all the time playing ball.:dame:

you nikkas are dumb as hell. I went to mexico a couple of years ago and got a sunburn. not to the point of extreme pain and redness like white people do, but my skin peeled for like a week and I was itchy as hell because of how dry my skin was. I used to laugh at my wife too when she would put on sunscreen until it happened to me.

Nairobi.. there's quite a few Kenyans on here and I can guarantee you none of us ever wore sunscreen or walked around with umbrellas in the sun. I don't care if you from Mombasa. Not even Sudanese people do this in the desert :skip:

My dad grew up in Mombasa. He wouldn't cosign anything you are saying. Especially nikkaz walking around with umbrellas in the sun. It's quite simple nikkaz take shade when they had enough sun. We don't siesta and we don't hide out all day considering the fact that sundown is around 5pm people are getting the most of the daylight that they can...

Ultimately you know more about this subject as it pertains to Kenya than I do, so whatever. I'm blown that you're laser focused on "umbrellas" and not the fact that too much sun (or anything for that matter) is not good for you. People do wear long sleeves and hats to avoid the sun in hot cultures but that's not really the point either.

The point is take care of yourself. Avoid cancer and wrinkles breh, but ultimately do what's best for you. Asante sana.

The level of ignorance in this thread is jaw dropping

I've only gotten sun burned once. Went tubing with some white co-workers on a river. Neck and arms were on fire the next day. And I'm brownskinned.
