Best way to level up in the corporate world a lot of times is to leave the company. You may have to leave the company. Start looking for jobs outside the company.

Also, fukk them folks. You gotta look at it like them folks are the ones who fukked up. That job should be beneath you now. You don’t even want that shyt. Cause you know these folks dumb as hell for not hiring you. Matter of fact, you have to leave the company cause they not smart people at all for passing you up. That’s how I would look at the shyt. Mothafukka I gave you the chance and you fukked up.

You need to realize, these folks are declaring war by disrespecting your talents like that. Like, the audacity nikka. Trust me, if you have this mind frame, you gon level up on them hoes and this lil hiccup won’t matter.

Only thing is, you can’t fake this mindset. It gotta be genuine.

Well first of all, I wish we could have topics like this more often and not feel ashamed or like we are going to get crowned. There is absolutely nothing wrong with you feeling the need to vent breh.

Something similar happened to me and I was really pissed off because not only did it seem like I had it in the bag, it seemed like some backdoor deals happened at the last second to prevent me from climbing. At the end of the day it just reminded me that you have to focus on building up yourself. These people and these corporations don't give a fukk. They are going to do what's more convenient for them so make sure you always have an escape plan and bet on yourself

Yall nikkas got me playing the
Who did they give the position to? :mjpls:

I really hate to do this but they sent the email about who got the position and of course they were.... well yall know the rest :mjpls:

Funny thing is I thought I was in front because I'm the only UW out off 250 people that's black

I'm :to: on the inside

I was at an MSP for 6 years. After year 2 it became evident that I wasnt moving up because it was based on someone else leaving. I stuck around because the people but was unchallenged and going through the motions. Got tired and finally decided to move around and now things are looking bright. My work challenges me and there are opportunities for promotion.

Just ask what fueled their decision to go another direction so that you can work on it. Then start looking elsewhere.

I know we laugh and shyt on each other on here and I try to keep my personal stuff off of here for the most part. But I have a really good job that I love and have been slowly moving up.

I went for a position I was certain I had. Interview was perfect but they just told me about an hour ago I didn't get the shyt.

I had know fukking idea I would feel this disappointed and worthless tbh.

I'm telling yall because we are a community and I'm ashamed to tell my friends and family.

I tried so fukking hard for that position

I don't even care if yall make fun of me I just needed to vent

Sorry
Chill the hell out brother it’s all good there’s plenty of opportunities out there in life

It be like that sometimes OP. 2021 was the same for me. Got stiff armed from every job I thought I had. Even got rejected by no-name startup firms, shyt bruised my ego like a mofo.

Eventually shyt worked out and out of nowhere I got picked up by a foreign company who believed in my abilities.
I work remotely and earning the kinda bread my peers could only dream of making domestically while working on new challenging problems :wow:

sometimes life throws you a curve ball only to throw you the alley-oop shortly after. Keep your head up :salute:

I'm in the same exact boat as you OP. I applied for a position in December after I was strongly advised to do so. It looked like I was going to get it, but at the last minute a stronger candidate applied (internal as well) and he got the position. That shyt hurt a lot more than I thought it would. Only difference is I didn't tell my family I was applying because I didn't want to have to answer a bunch of awkward questions if I didn't get it.

I actually thought I had it in the bag until the very last minute we had a zoom meeting and he said I did not get it. I was sick. It's been like 3 weeks now and I'm finally starting to feel better. Keep your head up.

This is exactly what happened 100% I didn't tell family and friends I had the gig but I was damn near certain I had it. That's why I won't quit tho because I know there's other's out there with better resumes, job experience, and oh :mjpls:

It’s always that.

“More experience” bullshyt. A lot of cacs don’t have any experience and they can get the job. God forbid you don’t have any experience, like you can’t learn?

Most of the time it’s not about your skill. It’s about how you “fit” in with the culture.
  • Do you look non-threatening?
  • Do all the coprorate hoes wana fukk you?
  • Do you outclass everyone at the company?
  • Are you a good dresser? Look more presentable than the CEO?
  • Do you fit in with our “culture”? Are you someone I can drink beer with all day? & share private company secrets with?
  • Do I identify or see myself in you?
  • Are you more masculine than the cacs at the company?
  • How do you look in group photos with all of us?
  • Do I really want to pay this black man all this money? (They want to lowball you instantly)
All of these are examples of what they’re thinking lol. Which is why for straight black men is pretty difficult. Cause by default they’re intimidated by us. Unless we look or sound like Carlton or Braxton.

I always wondered what it'll take to be an actual "insider" for sports. I'm 44 and I'm set in my career although I haven't gotten to position that I want yet. But I suppose it's never too late.

This Is a minor setback for even greater comeback. Reflect on it, take a day or two to collect yourself and get back on that fukking grind. Don't let this deter you to thinking your worthless. you're not
