Another thing that separates them to me is that Cam has punchlines, Mase doesn't really do those.

Cam is wittier. Has more finesse. His multis and intangibles was crazy. Effortless. Funny. And had dope metaphors. All in his prime of course. Cam would say shyt like "knick knack patty wack, daddy get ya caddy clapped. " and people would think he was nursery rhyming. Lol

First time I have ever heard this. And if I wouldn't have known I would have thought it was AZ spitting. But for real Mase was nice with it before and even during the playboy era. Sleep on him if you want but he was always a spitta and could have been one of the best to ever do it if his other problems and issues didn't keep popping up.

Too bad he retired and left the game while he was still in his prime to become a preacher. Mase was one of the few rappers my mother would actually let me listen to because he appeared to be "safe". He was street/hood as fukk, but Puffy did a great job of reshaping his image to make him more presentable to the mainstream. Looking back, the shiny suit era had major flaws, but as a kid, seeing all those crazy outfits and colors in the videos had me like

Honestly didn't recognise him without the lethargic monotone flow. Good shyt though shame nikka wasn't consistent.

By the way, anybody who says Mase wasn't nice at times is just delusional. I'm not saying he was as nice as Nas/Jay/the greats, but I don't know how you hear this in 97 and think: 'this guy's average'
