lebron at 18 was playin PG and averaging 20 in the NBA

wiggins could not average 20 RIGHT NOW in the NBA at 18 imo
While we have no way to prove that since the NBA changed it's rules and the NBA is much stronger in 2013 than it was in 2004, I consider this to be a blanket empty statement.

If you think you're lonely now, ohhh girl...
People place so much emphasis on athleticism when it comes to basketball now that it warps their perception of actual basketball "skill (e.g., Rudy Gay, Z-Bo)."Basketball is, and will always be, a game of skill that's correlated to size. That's why someone like Samuel Dalmbert is in the league and Rodney Carney isn't. While Wiggins is a great athlete, it doesn't automatically mean he's going to be this transcendent player. When you're talking about elite players, you're talking about them being all world in 2-3 categories. Wiggins is not "elite" in any basketball skill right now comparative to his size.

Obviously, he's 18 and can develop that. But, it's not some guarantee. It's purely hypothetical. And there's so many variables that go into that. How will he react when he gets money? Will he, as Chris Paul said, "relax?" What will his mindset be? What's his temperament? Why does he even play basketball? Certainly, someone like Kobe plays basketball for entirely different reasons than someone like Dwight, and so on. And that's just the psychological stuff. What if he's just as good as he's going to get? We see this all the time. OJ Mayo, anyone?

I do think Wiggins is going to be a good player. But, like John Thompson said, "Anybody can be good, but greatness is hard." There's so much that goes into being truly great at anything, and people underestimate that. I don't think he's going to be Durant or Super Cool Beas at KSU. It will be interesting to see how he does in college where the space probably more restrcited than he's accustomed to. It seems like his pet move is that spin move. I really want to see if he's effective with that.

He's not the next LeBron. It's been said by some he's the best prospect since LeBron. Now you can argue that because guys like Dwight, KD & Oden not to mention the 07 class were highly hyped as well.

been saying this...every year there is a dude with a highlight type that is hyped to the heavens before he actually gets to the NCAA.

Michael Beasley
OJ Mayo
Josh Selby
Bill Walker
Greg Oden (not saying the potential wasnt there)
Austin Rivers
Brandon Knight
Shabazz Mohammed
John Wall
shyt even Samardo Samuels at one point am I wrong?

Some of these players are OK, one of em is good and most of em are average at best/doodoo. That being said I hope Wiggins really is the real deal. He's had the most hype since the years Durant/Rose came out and I aint gonna act like I've been following enough to know more than the "experts". John Wall is the only player close to have this much hype out of HS recently.

dap for mentioning OJ Mayo because man...when he came out nikkas was . He's turned out to be a VERY solid player. But you would've thought hes the next D-Wade or something when he came out.

nikkas need to stop flexing and stay in school for at least two years. Learn something before entering the draft.

Based on what I've seen about the kid though i think he'll do more than fine in the league. He looks to have the right kinda support/family behind him and seems like a humble dude who's ready to put that work in. I dont think he'll be another Michael beasley

So basically the doubters in this thread are riding the premise that since other players that were hyped didnt pan out, neither will Wiggins? how about yall do your homework first, then come to a conclusion.

Wiggins is INSANELY athletic and has good mechanics, if he works hard the sky is the limit. But I also think Julius Randle might be as good or better. He is the only guy who can challenge Wiggins for the #1 spot imo. I can't even fathom what Randle will look like now that he will have access to the best weight facilities for the rest of his career. He already has a NBA PF body.

This!!
I totally agree, Randle I think will be the best prospect out of this class, Webber/Derrick Coleman like. I think Wiggins will be good, Im more impressed with his defense prowess, as I know he will be a defensive beast, I think he will be more Pippen(focus on great defense, ok offense) rather than Jordan( great offense or defense).

Randle is a more developed Terrance Jones imo. The similarities are uncanny.
