thats the issue, i have nobody i can talk to about dee shyt. My bestfriend is my gf but thats not enough. I cant talk shyt about her to her. I cant talk about everything i go through with her

All my groomsmen and best man were family. I have one close friend and he lives 1000 miles away because I learned through the years that most people aren’t your “friend”. If you ain’t grow up with somebody from the sandbox then a lot of times there’s an ulterior motive

the answer is inbetween. most of my male closest friends from childhood/college i've lost touch with as life has gone on for various reasons. i got a couple, but close close like best man at my wedding close, nah?
i still got a few male friends i talk to regularly tho.

I got 5-6 guys I went to high school with, knew them since 1991.
We hung out during high school, and all through the 90's until I'd say 2003 or so. Damn near nonstop. A few of us lived together over the years.
Anyway, life happened. People moved, got jobs with different schedules, got married, had kids, etc.
We still keep in contact and hang out occasionally. It's as if no time has passed. But as an adult it's damn near impossible to maintain a "close" friendship, for the reasons I said.
People got lives, etc. So I guess it depends on what your definition of a "close" friendship is.

I think that's kinda how it goes for Men the older we get; our "friends" are the people we know from somewhere/something.
I got acquaintances I know that i'm cool with and I couldn't even tell you their official names. lol

I’ve always found it very easy to make friends, but very difficult to maintain said friendships. I never knew how much to give of myself without being taken advantage of. Also, how long before I let my real personality reveal itself? I never knew. I never felt like I could get too comfortable or else the other person wouldn’t like me anymore. Finally, I always found it particularly difficult to build relationships with other black males. There was always this weird tension. I don’t know why. I’m an adult now, so I don’t have friends, or value friendship. Oh well.
