Texas nikkas don't even sound like Texas nikkas nomore :francis:

Blame that on technology/social media homogenizing everything. People all across the US have somebody else's style. I remember looking at a Beatking interview from maybe 2 years ago, talking about he was gonna move to Atlanta and make music there, but said he didn't cause he didn't want to start sounding like everybody else coming out and lose himself, which is pretty accurate.

As far as OP's question, a handful of people answered already. Le$ is probably the go-to guy by a landslide. One of a only handful of Houston dudes with his own style that also is rooted in the "old Houston" culture. Menace, Steak & Shrimp 1 & 2, Ace, E36, his most recent album Midnight Club, Settle For Le$ Vol. 2, and More Le$ are some cold projects.

I'm a big fan of Beatking as well. Back in like 2010-11, I thought he was just some one-off joke tape rapper, but I really started paying attention when he dropped Underground Cassette Tape Music with Gangsta Boo. That shyt goes, and when I went back to listen to his stuff, he has some good music, not JUST stripper anthems. Astroworld 1 from 2013 is dope, his Club God 5 album, Houston 3AM, Gangster Stripper Music 3, and Astroworld 2 from 2 or so months ago are my favorites from his. Love his production as it's a mix of the old Houston sound, and Three 6 type stuff. He produced half of a recent Gangsta Boo mixtape as well (Candy, Diamonds, & Pills), and that's nice too.

Wasn't a fan of Sauce Walka cause I had him pegged as a Migos clone until I REALLY started listening to his stuff, and glad I started checking for him. The Sauce Father is easily my favorite mixtape of the year. Dude can legit rap his ass off and has something to say, he ain't a gimmick like I thought he was. When he's not doing all that screaming and shyt, dude is nice. Sauce Father, Sorry 4 The Sauce 2 & 3 are dope stuff from him, the latter two the Jackin 4 Beats style. Black On Black Crime is a cold song too, just don't remember what tape it's from.

Maxo Kream is pretty dope. The first time I heard him I thought he was a random ASAP Mob member, cause that's the type of production he had on his first two mixtapes, Quicc Strikes and Maxo 187. I caught onto those late, but I love those. I think The Persona Tape is his latest one (mid 2016), and that's nice too, a change in production, but still good. Check that song "Grannies" too, shyt's hard.

DeLorean is technically not "new" (he and some dude named J-Kutt had a joint album in 2003), but as far as I know, solo wise, he's only been making music since 2009. Grace, Look Alive, and Perfect Black get a lot of play from me. All those run from 2013 to 2016. He had a recent tape earlier this year called Take Me Back, and even though it's good, I haven't played it much cause his previous ones are just that much better. I remember him being on a Big Krit song a couple years ago, and that's would made me start checking for his stuff again.

Doughbeezy can rap his ass off too. Only has 4 tapes since 2011 and I've listened to 3 of them (Blue Magic, Footprints on the Moon, and Reggie Bush & Kool-Aid 2). Blue Magic to me is probably the best one out of those, and Reggie Bush & Kool-Aid is his most recent one. Has this song with Bun B that's the best Bun verse I've heard in a long time.

Propain and GT Garza are two other names I always hear, just ain't heard enough to really judge.

Since I obviously have the time after those paragraphs, I guess I could post some links as well :pachaha:

Beatking

Yo, I swear when I first heard the Sauce Twinz I thought they were some bootleg Migos clones as well ...

The only project I heard from them was Sauce Theft Auto but I really didn't like it ...

The thing I like about BeatKing is that I can tell he's from my generation based on some of his music. On Houston 3AM for example, he had that hilarious song that spoofed It Ain't My Fault:

And then on Astroworld 2 I can't help myself from laughing when I hear him aping that Do or Die flow:

Then he also had the song with Paul and Slim over the Don't Flex beat:

The same thing you said about LE$ I think applies to BeatKing too - he has his own style but it's still rooted in the "old" Houston style

@Steve Piffler this thread could use your input :mjcry:
