What's really the point of a rice cooker though?
You still doing the same thing you woulda done with a pot :yeshrug:

it cooks way faster and more efficiently than a pot and you don't have to watch it, like i said it shuts off when it is done...and the rice is perfect everytime. I mainly use it to cook sushi rice which is 100 time more difficult on the stove and It cooks short/medium grain rice in 15mins where it could take 45mins on a stove and you can easily mess it up.

certain types of rice takes longer than others, sushi rice/short grain rice takes abit more care, a rice cooker takes the care out of it. :what:Not sure what you're not getting?

This is the way I cook it.

I put a little bit of vegetable oil, some of the Goya sazon, and different seasonings of your choice.

I use regular cup to put the rice in so if I put 3 cups of rice I put 3 cups of water. For every cup of rice I put a cup of water. Stir every 5 minutes on medium fire till it's done and you good.
I been cooking for 10 years and my rice is banging.

Outside of sushi rice, if you making the typical rice most people eat *white* then I don't see the point of a cooker.
Put the water in the pot, let it boil, add rice, wait, done.

Hmm. These are some good posts. I always mess up rice when I make it (unless I use the rice cooker). It always comes out mushy.
But unlike the op, I knew there was regular rice and minute rice.
I guess my issue was that I never really measured anything.
